Welcome from NW Florida. That sure looks good. I priced the gear drive L3200 with loader and turf tires. They offered it for $17990 out the door. So with the cutter and the loaded tires, you got a pretty good deal.

Yeah, I think we did alright. It came down to them wanting 19,300 and us wanting it for 19,000. We settled in the middle and from the sounds of it he wasn't going to go a dime cheaper. That was already after much negotiating. Couldn't have asked for a nicer sales person though, I am confident we will get great service out of them.

Nice tractor and welcome to the forum. The L3200 is a great 8N replacement.

I think you made a great deal! But you are the only one that has to be OK with the deal. I want a L3800 now, and will be my next tractor, maybe in a year, to a year and half. Was already looking them over at a dealer I passed by on the road the other day, lucky they were closed, as I was in PA, and I live in Louisiana. If the dealer is open, I always tell them I'm just looking around, as I live else where, just working in your area, and most are open to allowing me to look over the equipment.

I learned to drive on a Ford 8N. Great tractor! I still have an 8N. I now also have a Kubota. You will love your new L3200. You will be able to do things you never considered doing with the 8N. You will also find that everything you do is easier with the L3200. What I found most interesting is the change in approach: The Kubota allows use of finess, and it is easier on both tractor and driver to use that approach. The 8N required "Armstrong power steering" which, with front end loader, is genuinely painful, and the tractor requires a brute force approach to almost every task. Work on the Kubota becomes genuine fun. I hope you learn to love yours.

Not to get too far away from Nickanto's nice L3200, but what a great point you've made here about how different these new rigs are from the ones many of us cut our teeth on. In my case it was an old Ferguson TO-20, but you're exactly right regarding the use of finesse instead of brute force. The other day I had to mow a section beside our dirt road that had overhanging growth so the only way to do it was backing the cutter underneath, one tractor width at a time. With the HST and power steering, it was all over in a few minutes; to do that with the old Fergie would have taken probably an hour and I'd have been worn out from all the arm wrestling. More likely, it probably would never have gotten done at all!

I hope my Kubota last half as long as my 8N, which is 63 years old. Probably not, just can't picture the L3940 running in the year 2062, but either will I! The new machines operate so nice and make task much easier. Will you miss the N? Someone else is getting a nice starter tractor! Enjoy new purchase! Philip.
