Nice tractor. :)

Your requirement to lift a ton - have you tried it? Distance in front of the pins will difference but I can't lift a one ton pallet with mine, weight centered on the pallet and pallet as far back as possible. We had seed wheat in totes last year, tagged 2,020 pounds for one tote I remember, and I couldn't get it quite off the ground. We had to get our JD6230 which lifted it with ease but of course we are talking whole different class, heavy duty utility vs CUT.

My Kioti will lift that.:D

Check the psi setting on your relief valve to ensure it is up to its max spec setting. I could easily lift 2,000 lbs with the LA853 on the 5030 after ensuring RV set to spec. Have not tried yet with the 5740 but I checked the RV pressure and it is below spec from the factory.

Can u provide specs I have gauges but im waiting on my service manual. Also where's the adjustment? I assume tightening screw increase spring tension on valve causing high psi to unseat?

The rated maximum is 2770 psi (see attached).

You adjust the relief valve by removing the poppet and installing the proper number of shims to get to the specified maximum.

You test your existing pressure by purchasing a glycerin-damped pressure gauge http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200322889_200322889
and plug it into a FEL port with a QD fitting.

The attached page shows the detail.

Mine is at nominal at operating temp. It may easily lift a ton at the QA but a bulk grain tote is over 4 x 4. My pallet forks are very heavy duty so they aren't light. Lift capacity is 1878 @ 500 mm forward of the pins according to the book. The CG of a tote is at least 500 mm ahead of the pins when you consider the thickness of the QA adapter, main frame of the forks, and the distance out to the center of the tote. I suppose I could shim my relief to over omits he loader but why add the overload to the system when I do have a tractor that will do the job. What I was pointing was it will lift a ton, but back at the pivot pins.

RFB,

Thank you so much for this detailed info my friend !!! I already own Hyd trouble shooting equip upto 700bar Ill get Teed up here and see what the helk is going on, right now without grapple the curl will not lift the tractor, which is different that any loader ive operated before but I'm unfamiliar with these small machines and wasnt sure. The internet is an amazing tool. Thanks again.

you are experincing what I went through after buying my L5740 the FEL is not equal to older Old IRON loaders. Had mine checked and its at the correct pressure and I do not want to shim it over the limit. Triple R confirmed his L5740 does the same as mine with the curll function and lack of power. I havent not been able to do my things just gotta go about it differently.

On my old MF 35 with davis loader if I hooked the bucket on am immovable object (tree root) it would lift the rear wheels off the ground and yes there are loaded with BB as a cwt. Not the same with the L5740

This is news I like to have thank you!! This lack of performance is concerning to me. Break out force is everything when considering performance of a loader. I suppose I will ensure hydraulics are at max spec. And no higher then if I'm still unhappy i guess a complaint via the selling dealer to Kubota dealer is in order as the dealers service has been great but this is an engineering prob. Thanks Again

MHarryE,

I suppose that the height of the loader during the lift is also a factor. I have not yet tested the LA854/5740 with a scale, but with my prior LA853/5030, I lifted pallets of sod, scale weighed at 3000lbs. Albeit, the whole lift and transport was only about 20 inches above the ground, but it did it. This was with the RV psi set to just under maximum specified.

Without verifying it, the LA854 does not "feel" as strong as the 853. I did check the RV pressure as delivered from dealer, and it is 370 psi below the rated maximum of 2770 psi.

I have the shims but have not adjusted as of yet.
