( I had to clear alot of timber on my property befor i moved on to it . I tried to give it away for fire wood if people would come and get it /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif i had t burn it to get it out of my way. I saved alot of it for campfires for my son and my brother in law cut and busted some of it and took too his friends. I tried to give some of the oak and hickory to my neibors because there needy , good people but older and health problems. I told them to get theier kids to come and cut it and it was free, i had to cut it when i had time and burn it to get it out of my way also. If i would have had the time and been able i should of did it myself and hauled it to them. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif )

I totally understand. The gentleman that helped me has a Flea Market and we are going to use that as a distribution point. Even if it's only a few sticks at a time. Others that aren't to lazy will be able to come and get a truck load. While the ones that are not able or do not have a way to pick it up (Elderly and such) will have a number to call. We have already recruted several people to help deliver it. There are many people here that are old fashion and don't mind helping their neighbor. There has been a lot of planning and thought that went into this project in many ways. It has taken a lot of time but I am sure it will be somewhat appreciated. The fact that is important to me is that it is available for those that need it.

Now ONLY if I had my Tractor Repaired.... I could begin preparing my property for planting the winter crops. On Monday the hurricane is suppose to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain here if it follows the path they think it will. Probably best that it isn't plowed right now. God has his reasons for everything.

Have a Great Day and Thank you for taking time to stop by.

( Sorry to have to break the news to you, but that wood when cut to length and split, will need at least one year to dry before it can be any good for firewood. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know you mean well, but the poor souls trying to burn green wood will not fare too well. )

I have cut a lot of firewood in August, September and October for winter use, and it is always nice and dry for burning in the winter months. That wood will be in good shape for burning this winter as long as it is cut up over the next six or eight weeks. Wood does a lot of drying in two or three months.

Jim, you may want to consider selling some of those logs to pay for your tractor repairs.

I sold some of them to cover the fuel and rental of the equipment. I know the other logs have already been cut into firewood and is in process of drying. I wish I had sold a few more but I didn't. That would have worked if I had know they would not stand behing their warranty. That is wht I paid a little extra for the tractor. I expected them to cover warranty.

Oh My.... this storm (Hurricane) Katrina.... in the Gulf seems to be really be getting bad. Going out further west into the gulf so could miss us. However... these storms seem to hear what the forecasters say and do the opposite. If it misses us... it will be a needed break from all that rain before I can get this "Truck Patch Garden" ready. Maybe God will allow us to miss this and I will have time to get my Tractor Repaired.

I pray for those folks that are in Katrina's path. It is a real Serious Storm. I request that all that will pray for them as well. Thank you.

Hurricane Katrina is really gonna be a bugger. Shutting down many oil productions and will cause oil prices to go up even higher. Katrina is now considered a Category 5 Hurricane with sustained winds of 165 to 175 MPH. This could devistate New Orleans and even parts if Mississippi. With this powerful storm SC is sure to get some serious rains and probably winds from it depending on where the Cold Front Stalls or not. Let's all keep these people in our prayers. They are gonna need God's protection from this Huge Storm (Hurricane)

yeah, those are lousy excuses for oil going up. no more cost than before but they still get by with stealing this way. These cruds need to drown in their oil. Open up Alaska, tell them no thank you.

Or we could take over the Iran/Iraq oil.

I AGREE... I feel they are bleeding us dry with all these ridiculous excuses. Don't you just love the games they play on us working people. They really want full control. I will not say any more because of the political possibilities. I will say this... if "We the people do not stand up and fight... they will continue to do this to us" We have to fight for our rights and do a thing called "BOYCOTT" if we want to keep the oil prices down.

Well the rain has started here and it's not suppose to stop until Wed. and we are suppose to get 6 to 8 inches of rain. We already have tornado warnings in place. Could be a rough ride here as well. I don't care for the tornado warnings at night... I can somewhat live with them during the day... but at night you can't see them coming.

It's gonna do a soaking possibly washing on this property I have just cleared. This will tell if the 953 Cat back dragging it with the teeth on the bucket helped or not. Sure wish I had gotten to plow it about 10 inches deep so it would soak in instead of run off. It has about 4 to 10 inches of top soil in places. I hope it doesn't wash off. I would already had the terraces built had my tractor not been in the shop. Oh well... God knows best. Surely it will be ok.

So far so good, we have had about 2.5 inches of rain and a lot of wind. We have been very fortunate not to have no more damage. I feel and pray for those were not as fortunate as we have been so far. We are still under tornado warnings and the situation could change very quickly. I mostly want to ask for everyones prayers for those that have net with total destruction. They have a very hard road ahead of them during recovery. May God be with them and the ones that protect them. Also May God be with the ones that are trying to restore living conditions there. This is very dangerous work. Also let's pray that God will not allow the Luters to do even more damage and steal from those that evacuated their homes and businesses.

Jim

May God Bless ALL!!!
