I don't live in Oregon or claim to be a lumberjack. Really don't use a chainsaw that much but in 51 years I've used one enough every year that I should know the basics. Never cut anything really big. Have a tree that died last year between our back yard and pasture shed. Got a new chain yesterday for my Echo chainsaw, put it on while ago, fueled up, bar oiled up, and went after it. Wouldn't cut hot butter. First time in my life ever put a chain on backwards. Am I the only one who does stupid things like that?

Just go around the tree and cut from the other side. :)

Nope. I can walk you around the house I am building and point out every mistake I have made, the ones I corrected and the ones I worked around. We have to be able to laugh at ourselves or most certainly others will laugh at us. I prefer to beat them to the punch.

We all have those moments someway or another. ;)

I'm sure I've done it but must have realized before sawing or I'd remember the instant. I was given a skill saw once cause the owner said he bought it and it would never cut, I pointed out the blade was on backwards and he said take it anyway. He also gave me a new carbide blade in a package and the pic. of the blade on a saw in the pic. was installed backwards guess that's what he went by.

NO!! Turn the saw over!

MS441/32" bar. Has a habit when putting a chain on that the bottom links don't drop into the bar grove back by the drive sprocket. So the toehr day I am mounting a new chain, get it all lined up, take out the slack, tighten down the bar and chain won't turn (brake was off). Loosen up bar nuts, find a couple drivers out of the bar slot, adjust them, retighten everything. Good to go except I see the chain is backwards. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Got my saw back from the shop after a repair and wondered why it wouldn't cut. The tech. put the chain on backwards!

The last time I used my chainsaw, I had the chain on backwards for the first time in my life. On hindsight, I'm surprised I never did it before. I don't recall giving it any thought.

Geez I'm glad I'm not the only one. Guess I never realized in the past that you could put it on backwards. To make matters worse, I was hauling the limbs off to brush pile in pasture in the kubota rtv. Had made a few trips but on last one forgot to let tailgate down and couldn't figure out why stuff wouldn't dump. Another duh moment.

I'm left handed. I'd be happy to come out and cut the tree down for you.
