I would wait tractors are not like cars but I would want a discount on that tractor too If the paint is faded or its 2 or 3 years old they might deal

My main concern is the fact that I am paying full price for a machine that has been sitting outside for a year. Is this valid or am I just a nugget tractor owner that doesn't understand how things work.

I can tell you I passed up Kubota for the same reason. The tractors were "new" on the lot and rusting literally, that just didn't sit right with me.

I second the suggestion to give at least LS and Kioti a look if you haven't already, even if only to solidify your decision.

Looking at your land size and projected usage you may want to buy a larger machine, may want to go a good deal larger. Used would save some cash on a limited budget. The 305 loader is pretty anemic and the 3 series is pretty light. You can get a cover for now, it is a tractor. Sure the barn would be nice but you can get that later. JMO, good luck.

Sounds like you may need a larger machine. However, if fitting in the garage and towing is currently required, a smaller machine will do, it'll just take longer to get your work done.

Green is known to be most expensive and I haven't heard of folks getting discounts for machines sitting on the lot for a year. The downside would be faded paint and rusty bits here and there. Yes, I agree it should be discounted but not sure if you'll get it.

Kubota L2501 or L3901: Good strong basic tractors. Small enough to fit in the garage, light enough to tow, competitive with John Deere E series except they have 3 range HST, removable loader, and SSQA (skid steer quick attach - industry standard) loader.

Yanmar YT235: Mid PTO for a front mount snow blower, auto throttle, powerful yet small enough to fit in your garage, light enough to trailer to your hunting property, 3 range HST, SSQA loader.

Both Kubota and Yanmar are Japanese quality and build the entire tractor from the wheels up.

Another viewpoint if you will be financing; People keep talking about 0% but remember that it isn't free. When I started shopping last fall I did the numbers; between my down payment and Kubota's $1000 cash incentive it was just as cheap to finance through my CU, which was offering 2.99% financing. When I instead decided to buy a 2015 with 170hrs, all that I had to was send in the purchase agreement to the loan officer and they cut a check... and because it's only a 4 year loan I'm paying 2.25% instead. Whether low or no interest, it sure is nice to watch the balance drop every month.

My 2 cents is that tractor is too light weight (as in actual chassis weight), only 2 speed HST, and lift capacity of both FEL and 3 pt are too weak. You are also giving up versatility in not having a true SSQA capable FEL. I would look elsewhere. Just my opinion. If the dealer is too high and won't budge, then it's time to find another dealer. Come back and show him some prices from some of his competition, maybe that will help him sharpen his pencil.

My local JD dealer was also "uninspiring". I went elsewhere.

:thumbsup:Shop around look at other brands a month or two won't matter. You might find something you like better or a better price

I would go to the JD dealer and tell them that you want to order a 2018 model of what he has already sitting on his lot. They may try to sweeten your deal to get rid of what they have rather than order the same machine and have to wait for delivery to make a sale. Seeing that you're in New York, I'm guessing tractor sales aren't going through the roof right now.

After reading about your land and intended uses, I think you do need a larger, heavier tractor.

Our Kubota L3400 is heavier than the Deere you mentioned, and if you will be doing snow removal, "feet at a time", you should consider size as important. I need rear spacers and chains to deal with deep snow (rare, thankfully) or the tractor gets pushed around by its 78" front plow. Our old L3130, which weighed maybe 2000 lbs more with its heavy loader assembly and filled rears, was much better for plowing, with the same 78" plow, with better "blade" control.

For us, with about 1000' of lane to clear, a snow blower is too slow, and having used a loader bucket and rear scraper blade, I don't want anything other than the front plow. Okay, a cab would be nice, too, but it ain't gonna happen.

A SSQA loader and 3 range HST, as mentioned, would be very good. Consider filled R-4 tires, as well?
