Buying Advice First tractor purchase. (Massey Ferguson vs RK)

For the op, the service facility is more important than a lower price. We have most brands within 25 miles of home. Did some online research, was ignored at the JD dealer, Mahindra and LS/Boomer not in the running. Kubota likes their orange paint a lot, seemed like they wanted to keep the tractor. Massey was my choice, ten minutes of sitting in my 1742 cab model. Didn't run or drive it, just felt right. Previous land owner dealt with them lots, good enough for me. Had a starting issue, started better not plugged in when cold, called the sales guy, he hade the service come out to check in a couple of days. Of course it didn't act up then. he did a scan, no fault codes, said problem is documented, keep in touch if it occurs again. Have 118 hrs on it so far.

I don't know on your model, but on my tractor when plugged in an warmed up the manifold heater is controlled by a temperature sensor. If the water jacket is warm it thinks the tractor and air is warm and doesn't run the heater. When you crank it over that's cold air coming in which will not start well, I turn the key on and off several times in cold weather when plugged in, I'm thinking about getting another sensor and mounting it in an ambient air location.

What about the Workmaster?

I believe you are mistaken. The Boomers and at least some of the Workmaster series are made by LS. View attachment 577643

The Workmaster 50-75 Utility Frame is CNH built with FPT engine.

I see that now. That is what happens when you read a thread and forget to read page 2 before posting. Nothing like being late to the party, lol.

I wonder if that is a CNH facility in India or Mahindra making those models for CNH. I thought the CVT Boomer's might have been made by CNH so that is interesting info from Tennsawdust.

It痴 a CNH factory. About us | New Holland India | NHAG

WVDskin, I bought my first RK24 in July of this year and so far I like it. I have about 3 acres of grass to mow around my house and the front loader comes in handy also. However, if you are thinking of getting the RK55 and financing all or part of the cost through DLL the interest rate you pay may be higher than they advertise on the RK website. The rates are 3.99, 4.99 and 5.99 for 36,48 and over 48 months. But they have a charge on my invoice for prepaid interest that raised my interest rate up from 3.99% to 5.1352%. So beware of the additional charge for prepaid interest that can raise your rate up by 2-3 points higher that they advertise. I was told that some buyer's are paying over 9%.

I've typically had positive results dealing with credit unions verses in-store financing. It is always worth looking into.

Read the contract carefully before signing!
I would never sign a loan agreement that allows them to manipulate things like that. Plenty of other options out there for financing.

1760M-1.jpgI just bought the new Massey Ferguson 1760M and they use the Shibuaru motor with NO DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER! It has awesome power. Yes it is foreign made but also just sold a 1533 Platform and it had 0 issues. Just changed the oil and greased and it kept on going and going. If you are in Roane County then you should call the Tractor Dealer in Gallipolis, OH, Jims Tractor,(740) 446-9777 and they will give you a great deal and Massey has some pretty good interest rates or 0% on some with no hassle financing. Took me about 2 hours for them to return my call with approval. The 1760M has 16.9x26 aggressive ag tires and 9.5x16 on front. If you must have the R4 it is 18.4x24 and 12.00x16.5. They order all with R1 tires unless you insist on the R4 which are not good on hillsides and snow!

First of all, thank you very much for buying one of our tractors. Secondly, we do not as practice monitor posts nor respond to posts about RK Tractors outside of the RK Tractors forum on TBN, but a user sent this post to us to see because he was concerned with your comment regarding interest rates through DLL for RK Tractors being somehow higher than advertised. As we have a business and the good faith with our customers and prospective customers to protect, we have no choice but to comment.

The rates we advertise are the rates our customers are charged. If you send me a private message, we can connect and I’ll review your loan contract with you and answer any questions you may have.

Thank you.

Like the bigger 4707 but I got the biggest one that I could really justify...Dad started with 8N then got a Massey 135D and I like them. Not to say all tractors may be great, but My Preference is Massey red.03-14-08_1408.jpg, pic of my previous 2007 1533 that now makes my friend happy! It did a lot of work like part of the background patio for my honey.
