Buying Advice first tractor purchase, what size subcompact?

Most will say get a bigger tractor. I do relatively the same work as you do and i have 1705. I installed a skid plate not long ago as most tractors have inadequate protection in this area. With a smaller tractor you might have to make a few more trips but i think thats part of the fun. The bobcats look nice. A bit pricey it seems but the name brings the pain when it comes to the wallet. Either way you will enjoy ur purchase which ever way you decide to go. Keep in mind tractors hold their values pretty **** good so if you wanted to sell it and get a bigger one. I would not think that would be a problem. **** the kubota dealer said he's selling more now than before. Good luck

Need a show of hands. Who on here wish they had bought a bigger tractor, and will admit it.

Tested a 2035 this morning, they said the 25 was a bit smaller machine. Liked it. Free loader if I pay cash

My understanding is a bit lighter front end loader and a smaller engine, but otherwise the same.

I looked at the next size up, the XJ2025, but it was missing a few key features. It's now being replaced by the MT225S which has the things the XJ missed. If I were buying now, I'd probably go that way.

I don't, because I listened to the advice on here, and bought WAY larger than I initially thought I needed/wanted. I'm on 5 acres, and went with an LS XR4145HC. For what I do with it (moving lots of rocks/wood, snowblowing, and some road maintenance, it was the right move. Anything smaller (with less loader capacity) and I wouldn't be able to move the things I need, and snowblowing would take significantly longer.

The pictures show the piles of rocks I accumulated a few weeks ago. IMG_20200516_112851.jpgIMG_20200404_154817.jpg

....Tractors are inherently unstable operating on sloped ground. Tractor rear wheel/tire spread, sometimes adjustable, is a critical factor increasing compact tractor stability working sloped or uneven ground. Rear axle is the tractor component on which rear wheels/tires mount. A 6" wider rear axle substantially decreases tractor rollover potential. Tractor width is an approximation of rear axle width.

When considering a tractor purchase bare tractor weight first, tractor horsepower second, rear axle width third, rear wheel/tire ballast fourth.

B2601 = 49" width / 1,632 pounds

L2501 = 55" width / 2,623 pounds.

.

That L2501 width may be with R1 tires because mine stock with R4's measured 58" wide outside tread, 62" now with 2" spacers.

South east so no snow. I didn稚 think to list my location. I値l correct. What type of jobs are you thinking about? Any type of examples to help me understand that?
Four things you mention are flags to look at larger tractors. Add 5HP for working on property with a moderate slope. Moving rip rap and firewood will require 1500 to 2000 lb of loader capacity. A pallet of green firewood average 2' out on pallet forks need lots of loader capacity.

Finally, you are "concerned" about having to replace the wrong size tractor. I expect mine to do me out. I recommend looking at the frame size of a Kioti CK2610 and really I'd go with the CK3510 for power to grade that long driveway and travelling loaded up the slope. You did not mention woods work, but clearance was mentioned above and it is important too.

You do not always have to use the power, but it will be disappointing to invest in a tractor that you discover cannot do all the jobs around the property.

I have a ck4010 and my bil has a similar ck2610. He has 40 acres, and I have only a few. , but mine is a cab tractor used primarily for snowblower use, with its front blower, along with some driveway maintenance and firewood work.

His is primarily bush hog and loader work, and at trail building and maintenance.

Neither of us would consider going to a smaller tractor a prudent move. He is completely satisfied with the 2610 power and refers to it as a 澱rute?

I could actually use a little more power for snowblower use with my 40 hp ck4010.

Don稚 let a temporary storage limitation influence your decision as to what frame size to get. Your new barn will resolve the storage limitations shortly, but you will hate a tractor too small and light to effectively complete your work forever, or at least until you recognize your poor decision and upgrade to a more suitable frame size tractor.
