Buying Advice first tractor purchase, what size subcompact?

Can't imagine that it would be very long till you were tractor shopping again if you go with a subcompact. Also, it would be pretty short-sighted to limit yourself by looking for a tractor that would fit into its temporary home when you plan on building a barn that can have big doors.

I would have to agree with chim. Buy bigger. Park it outside until the new barn is built. Parking one outside (especially for short term) will not hurt it. These are not Faberge Eggs.

No location, maybe no snow. 1600 ft drive would tax a small tractor with a land plane. Move into a CUT and don't look back. Jobs will pop up that warrant more than a sub compact, then it will be " CRAP, I shoulda got a bigger machine"

South east so no snow. I didn稚 think to list my location. I値l correct. What type of jobs are you thinking about? Any type of examples to help me understand that?

I would look for a good used JD 1025R. It will do most of what you need, and if you want to upgrade in the future you'll be able to sell it fairly easily. Good machine to learn on.
