That is my thought too, also if one or more pop out, you could pick it up in your vehicle tires. I think I would stick with chains.

Do not worry about tire life concerns.
The tires will dry rot before you ever wear them out, at least for us hobby farm types.
I am stuck with an oddball size of tires that completely dry rotted and no replacements available.

This may be a dumb question, but what's the downside of doing this? Reduced tire life?
I'm not worried about my driveway, just worried about messing up dang expensive tires

down side lol ...you lose a bunch of the screws in your drive and pick them up with your car tires.
