I have read everything I could find on Flail mowers but wanted to check a couple things out a bit more since they are new to me. Flails have been well discussed recently, so apologize up front for the redundancy.
I would like to use a Flail to cut a couple acres of overgrown grassy area in amongst trees (not close very close together), next to a wet detention area. After I get it cut once, I will keep it cut every month or so. The grasses will generally then only be a foot or so high and maybe the area will have a few small saplings or a small branch or 2 that I probably won't be able to see will find its way in there as well. The occassional other junk that shows up in these sorts of areas (rock here or there) will likely be there too. I am not planning on making this a finished grass area at this point.
The reason I would prefer a flail is the area needing cut is within 50' of a couple houses and there are a fair number of kids (mine included) in the area as well.
The local dealer has a H40 Befco available and it has 3 blade options (three choices of blades are available:fine cut, detach & Y blades). I want to make sure I understand which blade, if any, would be appropriate for my application. It also has Optional equipment of a Drive line with overrunning clutch. Worth it?? Perhaps a Caroni would be better than Befco? Here is the Befco H40 link.

Thanks in advance for you time.
