Since I'm using 3 AAA battery's in these flashlights and in my head lamps, now I'm in the market for AA & AAA rechargeable battery's and charger, this flash runs 3, my head lamps run 3. So I'm thinking of getting a 6 slot re-charger that will charge AA & AAA and wont take 2 days to do it. I buy these non-recharging battery's to put in everything, then use a couple hrs. throw them out, seems like such a waste.

Some notes on using the NiMH or NiCd batteries in your flashlights.

They will not be quite as bright. As a fully charged NiCad is around 1.25 volts under normal load and an Alkaline will be about 1.5 volts under load. Sp it will be just a bit dimmer.

Also Nicads and NiMh also self discharge over time. A month off of the charger will see quite a bit of drop in these cells. So for a light you don't use a lot, and just sits around, than either the Alkaline or Lithium batteries are a much better choice.

I would recommend for our new Chinese Whizbang flashlights that you use the Lithium 18650 battery as its shelf life is much much longer. This will not be an option of course for your headlights due to the way they are constructed. But there are AAA lithium cells also made. Expense is larger of course.

"I would recommend for our new Chinese Whizbang flashlights that you use the Lithium 18650 battery"

10-4 on the whizbang, I'll be rest of the night into tomorrow trying to sort this all out, starting with an 8 slot AAA charger when everything I have is a 3 battery light, think that's like the hotdog game, lb. of hotdogs is 8, hotdog buns are sold in 6. Then AAA rechargibles are Ni-cad = not as good, but they fit all my lights, BUT 18650 battery is lithium = great, BUTTT they only fit the whizbang lights, this might end up being an eeny, meeny, miny, moe problem.....

For that price I would surely go ahead and buy the 18650 battery charger and a handful of 18650 batteries which are clearly superior, pocket the change and forget about obsolete AA batteries.
