I have owned my BX 23 dfor a little over a year now.. In this time I have had to replace 2 tires and fix about 15 flats. Granted I have been working my BX23 very hard to say the least but I would like to put an end to my flats.. I was thinking that I could drill a hole in the tire itself and fill it with cement. then patch the hole in some way when I am done.. I was wondering if anyone else had ever done this before.. I know I can send them out to be made solid but I have to wait 3 weeks for them to come back and it will cost as much if not more then new tires. Any suggestions?

Cement ??? You're kidding right? You can get them foam filled which will solve your problem.

I just added 32 oz of the green slime tire sealer to each of my rear tires last night cause one of them had a small hole. They say it will seal a hole up to 1/4 inch. On sale at Harbor Freight stores for $9.99 through the end of the month.

I had mine foam filled. The tractor was down over a weekend. I can't imagine why it would take 3 weeks. Call some tire dealers. It was expensive but no flats.

On my little BCS, I had the tires foam filled, and that has saved me endless aggravation. Find a tire shop that does it in-house. The one near me that does usually waits for a few jobs to come in, and does them all at once, to save clean-up time.

On the big tractor, we've just got (Kub L-39: yeeha!)/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif, filling is not recommended for either front or rears, so I ordered 5 gallons of Gempler's Ultraseal Bulletproof-grade tire sealant. They say it's good for sealing-up holes up to 1/2"., and that it's good for the life of the tire.

But the good news for me is that, despite running the L-39 through some Hawthorn patches, I haven't developed any holes or leaks yet, so I've put-off actually using the slime so far (pushing my luck as usual, but I'd rather the seat time...)

The L-39 actually needs about 4 gallons of the stuff to do all the tires (but the 5-gal pail worked out cheaper for me, and I'll be sure to need the other gallon for various other tires). Your little BX would probably need half that or less. The Gempler's folks will look up the rate for you if you give them your tire size. Good luck...

I too have had to replace 2 rears on my BX23 and have had a total of 9 flats in 220 hours. Green slime works great on the fronts untill you pick up a FEL full of Dirt. Then you get a rotating Green Slime Sprayer. It's nasty stuff to get off of most everything including my glasses. I'll be getting my next set foam filled from day one.

What kind of tires do you have? I am getting R4 tires on L3400. Should I have them filled w/ foam? Thanks

I've owned my BX23 for awhile and have had several flats. I put the green slime in last week and technically it didn't go completely flat again...I just have air it up every morning!
