Float for curl function

/ Float for curl function #11
I tried it a little in a snow storm. It seemed to work fine but I had to put the loader in regen to lower the loader:confused3: It is not usable that way. It comes down really rough and fast.

You should not have to use the regen. Do you have to use the regen to dump your bucket?

No I don't use regen to dump the bucket.

I am pretty sure it was hooked up right. Forward and back on the joystick was curl up and down. Left raised the loader and right lowered.

Brian has a good idea in using the lift function as trial to see if you get the affect you're looking for.

What about mounting adjustable caster wheels behind the blade? Wheels would be more apt to roll over the loose rock instead of dig in like the slide shoes do. Either way, you will loose some of that weight for front wheel traction when any part of the blade rests on the ground.

I have 3 ideas as of now.

1. Get rid of it and covert a truck plow.

2. Float for Curl.

3. Use tail wheels of a rotary cutter instead of skid shoe.

The tractor handles it pretty good but when I hold the blade up a inch or 2 it does so much better.

That sounds right. But there should be no reason that the regen would have had to be used and why was it not smooth? It should have been smooth coming down, just faster in the regen mode. Regardless, I agree that you should not be using the regen mode, but it should work without the hiccups that you had. :confused3: I would try it again before spending any $$$. ;)

You can have float just by disconnecting the tilt hoses. and plug the valve work ports.

I am not sure what I would do when I need to raise the blade.

A bucket in float mode, will act like a bucket with no hyd.

The bucket will probably try and tilt down when you raise the lift arms.

Raise the loader so that the blade is angled down about 40 degrees, then wrap a tow strap from the blade frame to the cross bar on the loader, like this.

Put a container under the disconnected curl hoses when raising the loader, then use a pipe union to connect the hoses together. That will put some air in the curl cylinders to let them float.
