Florida man runs for his life as neighbor chases him in tractor

So swap tractor for baseball bat, and the old guy tells the fat guy, "Run you fat *******" and he starts walking down the path towards him. Now, he probably could have run after the fat guy and caught him, but he just wanted to intimidate him, so he walked. What's the charge?

Same charge as if he'd have sat on his tractor and done the same thing.

I really can't believe you guys are debating about weather the guy could have caught him or not. Who cares? The point is, he went after the guy. Doesn't matter if he walked or drove, he went after the guy and told him to run. Who knows what else happened before, during, or after? The point is, from the limited video we've seen, and the records posted, the old guy went after the fat guy and the fat guy was probably reasonable in thinking the old guy wanted to harm him. Maybe the fat guy had it coming. Maybe the old guy had enough. Maybe the old guy is kinda nuts. Who knows? It doesn't matter. He told the fat guy to run and persued him all the way to the fat guys garage.

actually, the point is the fat guy was never harmed in any way, so the charge is bogus, just to stop the encounter.. I did post a link to what the charge requires, and nope, sorry, but the charge is bogus..

The charge fits the action. You cannot threaten and pursue another person with any type of motor vehicle.

It will probably be dismissed, however, the charge fits. ATTEMPT is the key. Does not say the victim has to sustain injuries.

No one ever wants to hear "Run you fat *******" from an angry neighbor.... nope. It ain't gonna end well. I hope they iron it out. It would suck to have that kind of animosity with a neighbor. I have about 8 neighbors. One is pretty hard to get along with. The rest are great. But even the one has mellowed.... 20 years of alcohol and pain killers has withered that neighbor down to nothing. She's got no fight left in her. Sad to watch.

Why was this being videoed? Did the fat guy go instigate the issue with Santa so he could get a video? We don't know the WHOLE story.

The fat man's wife was recording it. Probably due to past interactions with the old guy. Nowadays, pretty much everyone records any altercation as soon as it starts. Sometimes it's your only witness.

Since they were obviously ready to video the whole thing, it looks like they set the old guy up, took the video, then showed it to police, after which, late that evening, he was arrested.

"Hey, video me, I'll go over there and cuss at him, and if he tries to chase me on the tractor, get the video, and we will get him hassled by police."

This is what really happened. Santa and the fat man have been friends for years. Notice Santa is not overweight, just hasn't been sleeping well worrying about his fat friend. So Santa decides to take action with his tractor making the fat man exercise. It's been going on for a while, unfortunately it was caught on video complete with Santa's explicatives he yells urging his friend on.
At least that's my contention were I Santa's attorney.
