You must be thinking of New Zealand. Around here it is "acres per sheep" but in NZ it is "sheep per acre" :laughing:

I was going to add to my earlier post that when you use this stuff, you end up smelling like you have been (being polite here ) "wrestling" a big merino ewe.

But then I thought that I better stay away from the sheep jokes, out of respect for our Kiwi TBN friends. :laughing:

I love Fluid Film and use it for all sorts of stuff. I even lube the slides on my semi-auto pistols with it (very sparingly). I love it, but hate the smell.

I don't think Kroil smells bad, though.

I don't mind the smell of FF or Kroil. Of the two, I think Fluid Film smells better.

I just ordered some Fluid Film online. None of the Lowes around here carry it. I use PB Blaster brecause it is easy to get around here but I have used Kroil in the past and it is better. Expensive but better.

Is this stuff the same as Fluid Film?

MX4 LANOX Lanolin Lubricant - Inox Lubricants

I have used it for a few years, and the lanolin base makes it stick and lubricate much better.

I hadn't heard of Fluid Film before reading about it on TBN. I have just searched on eBay and the one Aussie seller wants $25 - $30 per spray can.

(The "Lanox" spray costs around $12 -$13 a can).

When I saw your post I did some searching online. After reading the reviews I couldn't resist ordering a 5 liter jug of MX4 from a boating supply place in Florida.

Does the FF get picked up on the next few boards you rip? The wood might reject a layer of finish over traces of lanolin?

It CAN. I buff it off pretty thoroughly every time I re-coat, like every other year. And have not noticed any "transfer".

Well it FINALLY has seemed to warm up so I can start spraying FF under my truck. I find it goes on better when temps are in the upper 80's plus.

How much should I get to do an F350 twice? 5Gallons? I've only used the spray cans for "spot" treatment before.

I'd love to justify the 55 gallon drum, but that seems a bit much

And where's the best place to buy it?

/edit - and along those lines I'm probably getting a sprayer for it, but I'm wondering how much I could spray using my 5 gallon HF portable tank pressurized up to 125 psi.

I got my 2 gal 'kit' (#2) and info from "Kellsport Products" Fluid Film Rust Protection. Amazon has the product too, but KS has the details and videos that encouraged me to try the setup. First coat will really 'drink up' the product, like bare wood with paint, but re-coats require somewhat less. One gal/vehicle will leave plenty to drip on ensuing hot days.

btw, FF spray gun required a trip to the 'Parker' store for a BSPP fitting to adapt it to my air hose. IMO the product goes on more efficiently from the gun than from the cans. YMMV, and a KS video (linked above) shows the gun in use. You'll want some mobility under the vehicle when for even coverage when applying as it goes on fairly quickly.

Yes, it does. I try to remove with steel wool and solvents and then wax with paste wax. It could screw up a nice board.

Secondly, I think FF could interfere with a spray paint job. It's common knowledge that spray silicone can screw up a paint job so I'll guess there is some risk with FF. Anyone know?

I use FF on my tractor, snowblower and other parts and pieces that go outside. For my table saw, cast iron wood lathe bed, jointer bed and band saw table I use Boeshield T9. It stops/prevents rust, dries on the surface quickly and doesn't get picked up by wood. I usually buff it with a towel after spraying and letting it dry. Boeshield T-9(R) | Corrosion Protection and Waterproof Lubrication It was originally designed for the aerospace industry - boeshield/Boeing.

Just a note - the Pro gun I bought with it just hooks up fine to a standard female quick coupler from Harbor freight.

And I ordered it late on the 20th had it on my door about noon on the 22nd, free shipping.
