Henro's comment/advise was to let it dry out and then I'd probably be able to handle moving it better.

OK, sounds like it is time to move to the next level...

Patience /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Patience is a virtue that must be amply applied when dealing with wet soil... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If patience is lacking, then always dig in a way that will keep one's tires on firm earth. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

On a serious note, you may need to dig a channel into the stuff, then outwards on each side from their to grab scoops of it while your wheels remain on more solid soil. It seems to take a long time for a thick layer of wet earth to dry out and reach an equilibrium with the normal surroundings.

If you can get some of that stuff out of there, and spread it in a thinner layer somewhere, it will dry quicker and can be moved and used easier later.

On the plus side, you learned to get you tractor unstuck from a major stuck!

Well done!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Followup to Post \"FEL or Rear Blade\"

GoodGuy.... that's definately stuck! One of the pictures looked like the ground may be a grey slick clay. If so.... that will take a while to dry out. Our hunting lease has some of that stuff that virtually never dries out and is uper slippery. I agree with whoever it was that suggested adding another medium to it to stablize it. Looks like you got a lot of experience on the ingress/egress from your tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Followup to Post \"FEL or Rear Blade\"

GerardC....Looks like you've "been there done that"
DiskDoctr....Sorry, forgot the rules of "mudboggin". I've got an low area about 6k sq ft in the front of my property that's not level (5' below grade in spots) & have been looking for donated fill to level this area with the hopes to be able to seed this down the road.
KiotiJohn....Thanks for Input...
MikeBurr.....Looks like I might have to go this direction,Thks
Spiker....This was free fill that I asked dumped on my property. I'm convinced that I need to come at this sideways & move with the hoe instead of faceon with the bucket.
JayC....I hate renting but maybe that would be smart
Henro....I'm kidding,Man....don't take me serious....

Re: Followup to Post \"FEL or Rear Blade\"

Well, first of all being a john deere is part of the problem.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just kiddin' You should be able to get out of that mess easy with a backhoe. I've been in just as deep and you're not that stuck.... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Followup to Post \"FEL or Rear Blade\"

Goodguy,

Maybe now you can convince your wife you need a set of MATTRACKS to get that mess cleaned up before it dries out when you're old and grey /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif They're not cheap, though. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: Followup to Post \"FEL or Rear Blade\"

This is easy. Id always get my L35 stuck in clay/gumbo like this and even deeper sometimes. Getting yourself unstuck takes practice but there are always ways of getting out. In this case you should of dropped the loader down with the bucket curled all the way back and then put her in rever and curl it forward whilst diging into the ground. The most common way to get a loader unstuck. This is unsafe but will get your backhoe out, try reaching out and curl the bachoe arm(one that is connected to the bucket) and drag yourself out, this is also how backhoers move themself around, with the backhoe instead of wasting time turning the seat around.
Another way is to put the backend of the tractor with the backhoe and scoot the backend over to a different spot and then try the above. Ive also had to stuck 2x6's under the tractor while the loader and backhoe were supporting the tractor in air and then slowly let the tractor down and back my way out. Ill tell you a story. I was once going over a curb with the L35 backhoe and as soon as the back tires sunk into the clay/silt/gumbo the bottom backhoe pivot bracket caught on the curb and i also had a broke hydraulic hose that day too so i couldnt work the backhoe without spraying me with fliud and everyone around me. I finally got an assistant to get the framers forklift operator to lift the backend off the curb and back my way out. Ive used my LS170 skid steer to get the kubotas unstuck and vice versa. Ah, good times.

Re: Followup to Post \"FEL or Rear Blade\"

Those tactics only work if you can find "bottom". I've been in areas(springheads) that looked dry on top, but start digging and the whole area starts undulating. Before you can get out, your up to the axles and can't find anything to get a bite on with bucket. Everything you do, every move you make makes it worse. Time to call a dozer with winch.
