Well I sold my little yanmar 186d yesterday I'm gonna miss it it was an awesome tractor . I hope the guy takes good care of it and has as much fun with it as I did

and bush hog? I need something simple, no bells and whistles, to cut 5 acres of grass. I want new so I don't have to work on it other than usual maintenance. $7K is about all I can spend but it may not get me much.

You're really boxing yourself in for no good reason. There are plenty of good used tractors out there for way less than $7K that are easy to work on if and when they need repairs. My 1951 Farmall Super A would work fine for the chores you've listed on your 5 acre property.




I paid $1300 for the Super A that was formally used by Caltrans (our wonderful CA highway dept) to mow along highway right of ways. Older gas engine tractors like the Super A, Ford 8N, etc. are easy to work on and parts are readily available and reasonable prices. Grey market tractors like Yanmars are generally diesels, would fit in your budget, but you should check parts availability and service providers in your area before opting for one of these things. In general, diesels are more difficult to work on than gassers (the injection pumps have to be send out to specialty shops for major service/rebuild, for example).
