For those that hate the treadle pedal on Kubota

I'm of short stature with lower back/sciatica issues and need to modify the uncomfortable long-reach HST pedal on my new Kubota L4060. Can you tell me how you did yours in the photo?
It's a piece of 1/4 x 2 x 12 aluminum stock (Lowes?), grip tape and two 1/4 " carriage bolts. Still working great.

Yep. The Kubota differential lock on my tractor is horrible. My former Mahindra was no trouble to operate. I have purchased the spring mentioned in another thread and plan to install it as soon as I get a chance.
Check out 'Paul and Kathy Short' on Utube he came up with a great fix.

Paul did post here at one time but it’s been a longtime.

I followed his BX mods but 4shorts pictures say no available in his posts

Used some scrap tubing and shaft collars to improve the differential lock pedals. Often used on our hillside farm. Remember to fully engage. Helps with muddy boots and wife to use effectively.

Of all things, it just amazes me that Kubota can't develop a better differential lock pedal. Years ago I wrenched my back terribly using the diff pedal on a previous 2wd Kubota.
I've been wanting to fab something up for my current tractor, and these photos will be helpful.

Never use the brakes with a hydro.
I was going to ask how you steer when plowing snow, since that's all done by independent braking here. But maybe you don't get much snow in Kansas?

Love the mod. I guess if you need to own Kubota, and hate the treadle, it's a good way to go. Ever consider selling it as a kit?

The MX diff lock is a hand operated knob in the same position but it stays in whatever position you select until you select the other position. Being as it is pull up to lock I usually unlock by pressing down with my heel. Not ideal and I've thought about extending the lever upwards so it is easier to reach. But I've lived with it for 250 hrs so far.
The treadle pedal is another story. I really don't like it. Currently I have a 1x3 stick tie wired to the front tread to raise it 3/4". The jury is still out on what is needed to make it ergonomically acceptable.
Once I turn in the seat for reverse work I end up with my toe on the back section. That's not ideal

Considered quite a few different brands back in 2020 when I was looking to buy a new tractor.
The treadle pedal on the Kubota that I took for a test drive seemed pretty lousy for me to operate so Kubota quickly got crossed off my list. I do now see that Kubota does have a much better treadle pedal on some of their tractors but that’s not what was on the one I took for a test ride.
As far as brakes I do quite often use brakes to help with steering so it seems almost unbelievable that Kubota sometimes puts the brake pedals right next to the treadle pedal.
My LS uses the 2 pedal hydrostatic drive system on the right side and the brake pedals are on the left side where I believe they should be.

It's funny, because Kubota makes seriously good tractors by all accounts, but I keep hearing "I love my Kubota, but the treadle peddle..." from my few friends who own that brand.

If this pedal is such a turn-off or problem for so many buyers, you have to wonder why the brand insists on sticking by this design?

Not afraid of improving ergonomics to improve operational use. Treadle pedals on B26 and M59 TLBs are okay. M59 bushhogging requiring constant varying due terrain and load is acceptable for hours.

Never was comfortable with the M59 backhoe thumb control pedal. Modified pedal and added a hand control option to help my limitation. Pedal still folds and lock. Funny the B26 OEM backhoe thumb peddle is similar but more comfortable to use.
