Ford 1510 Hydraulic problems after fluid change

Mike,

The one below is not recommended for transmission. Ford 134 is both for transmission and Hyd system. is this like yours only in 2 gallon jar?

JC,

ps. if you take the rubber hose off would you be able r to see the oil in the bottom pipe? fluid level should seek the oil level in the transmission, does it agree wit dipstick level reading?

No, this is the one I used and I did some looking around and from what I can tell it is Ford 134 compliant.

Where does it say Ford 134? I did not read it on the specs.

It doesn't say on there website but I searched for that oil and found other conversations indicating it was ford 134 compliant.

What do you think about loosening the rubber hose and hold my hand at the bottom of the intake tube from the pump to see if I can feel suction?

Now that I have plenty of oil in there maybe it is pumping and problem is elsewhere?

Where would be a good place to loosen to check for pressure?

It will be messy on the discharge. I have done what you suggested by following the discharge line all the way to a relief device and opened it up there with a bucket under it. Your system can generate high pressure if the pressure regulating device is on the discharge. if the pipe is broken on discharge high pressure can not be developed.

My suggestion is to take a hose and tie it to rubber hose, put a pig tail in the hose same as trap so inlet stays primed, loop the hose in a small bucket and start the tractor. The inlet should stay primed and be able to pump for a few seconds and empty the bucket if the pump is working. it's passed my bed time. I'll check back tomorrow.

Just checking in. I tried a new O-ring on inlet tube at top of pump, made sure clamps on rubber hose are nice and tight, trying to eliminate possible air leakage.
Wonder if it is possible the filter is defective not allowing enough fluid through to supply pump?
Man, I am really stumped on this one. 3 days and no progress.

Me too Mike, I feel like "stomp the chomp" same as "click or clack (Magliozzi brothers)" :D.

Well, what don't we eliminate the filter possibility? I'd take the filter out, use a clean bucket put some oil in it (you might use the 5 gall bucket you got if there is any oil left in it), flood the intake pipe with oil, keep the bucket higher than the pump inlet. It should pump the oil out of the bucket right in to diffy. If it did not then maybe you have a tired pump. On my rig pump input shaft seal was running dry sucking air in.

make sure filter media is out. again, was it spin in filter? or did you have a permanent cartridge with replaceable media?

Are you sure you got the right type of filter for the Hydrolic oil? In the service manual it shows the filter right behind your left foot when you are in the seat. Filter lays on its side there. I don't know if it needs to be blead or not but I think there is air in the line somewhere. Also the capacity of the Hyd system on a 1510 is 18 L or 19 Quarts. When checking the level do not screw the plug in to read level. It should be between the mark and the bottom of the dipstick.

Heck I was thinking of putting the old filter back in. I know it worked and it was the only thing changed except the oil.
Before changing the oil, if I had the handle up, the box blade would be all the way up before the engine started. I don't really know if this indicates anything, but this why I thought the pump was in pretty good shape.

Here is a picture of the plug
I agree about air in the system, and thought about loosening the plug in picture to maybe bleed the air, but was unsure if it would help.

Here is a picture of the plug.
