Ford 1700 injector pump timing

I posted photos before on the injector timing. Other than the actual timing of the gears with witness marks the injector gear has slotted holes for adjustment and the injector mount holes are slotted. There should be witness marks.

There is an alternate method of injector timing, but you need the head off and a dial indicator. It is in the IT manual for a 1700.

Thanks a million for that information, got the job finished and now to the next one. This 2 cylinder sounds horrible it sounds like the mains have a 1/4" gap between the crank.

Could still need fine tuning with injector timing. How is the oil pressure? Diesel does sound rough compared to gas.

Hi, do you know if the Fuel pump timing process discussed here would be the same on a Ford 1500 Tractor?

My engine runs but not properly. The previous owner said tractor would not start and he noticed the water separator was half filled with water, so he thought that the fuel pump might be contaminated with water (and rusted).. so he installed a rebuilt Fuel pump ($900) had the Head resurfaced, a couple new valves, 2 injectors, When finished with the work the tractor started, but it runs bad.
He said it did not have power to operate attachments.
He thinks that the reason it is running poorly now is that the Fuel injection timing could be off?
Any ideas?
I am going to tinker with it on trailer for a couple weeks.. then bring it to a mechanic if I can not figure it out.
Anyone have any ideas on remedy?
