Ford 1710 remote question

I have a 1710 with fel. All I want is to operate log splitter. Can I run a hose from loader valve to back of tractor with quick connect on end. Then run return another hose back to tractor? I don't understand why I would need a valve if one is on splitter. Sorry if stupid question.
