The shop foreman at the dealership was at the parts counter when I was getting some other parts and he gave me a great suggestion, he said to turn the knob that controls how fast the impelments fall all the way closed, with an implement on the back if it leaks down you have a trbl with the cylinder, if it doesn't leak down you got a problem with the pump, i have replaced the brake disc and have all the sheet metal off, in the process of a paint job, painted the body today, the rims and the grill, fenders already straightened and paint, I hope to get all the blue painted in the next couple days and get it back together, this thing is going to look and operate good when i get thru (I hope anyway).

it's a basic and not at all conclusive test. there are issues like check and reliefs that could be at play as well.

True , there are at least 2 check valve systems within the head assembly that could cause a leak down with a perfectly good piston seal. They are much less likely to be the cause of the problem than the piston seal itself.

very true.. just pointing out that if his test fails that there are a couple other aveneus to procede down as well.

That's the same thing he told me, he said what he suggested is just a good place to start.
