1967 Ford 2000 diesel
I am presently lucky enough to have a knowledgeable friend helping me get this tractor working again. It was hijacked and ran into the woods, the transmission cable snapped and we aren't sure what other damage may have been done. All fluids have been changed and the thing runs SWEET now.

The issue now involves hydraulics. I loaned my bush hog to my neighbor and raised the three point hitch for traveling. NOW, it won't lower. It will raise but not lower.

Anyone have an exploded view of that system while I wait for my manual(s) to arrive? Or pointers, instructions, war stories or lectures they'd like to share about this tractor?

Not high on the list but important is getting the original paint scheme right, so any pointers there would be appreciated very much.

Thanks to all !

Will it "leak down" over time? If so, there should be a "drop rate" control (often a knob) which (if closed) will prevent the 3 point from lowering.

the 3pt issue may be a sticky unloader valve. to get the 3pt down, loosent he plug on the 3x5 cover ont he top cover and let oil bleed out while the lift drops. tighten back up and work the 3pt handle and start back up and work handle back and forth..

as for tranny cable snapping? this an SOS tranny?

Hey Everyone! Thanks for the responses. Guess what? Air in hydraulic system - pump is on the outside, next to the engine. We bled the air out and "Shazzam!" Three point hitch works! I feel like at this point I should basically say "Duh....." because that's one of the first things that I should have checked!

All that said, I am in constant need of information like what the paint scheme was like, any maintenance tips, major repair issues, information on the electrical system AND how to keep a bunch of hooligans from stealing it, running it into the woods and tearing up the transmission cable, like they did before. I am thinking a "secret" switch somewhere that will prevent tractor start-up......any ideas?

Again - many thanks for the hospitality.

To Sound Guy: This is the Fluid-Matic 12 speed automatic transmission. New Holland wanted $467.00 for the rerplacement cable. Found one still in the wrapper for $33 on Ebay. Yahoo! Put Exxon Dektron (sp?) in it - again, my friend had two unopened 5 gallon jugs of it ($125.00 each) so this old girl has GOT some ATF !!!

hmm.. I'm not familiar with that tranny.

I know some models have a TC in front of a 4spd...

ps.. air in hyds should self bleed. if it keeps developing air.. it likely has a leak on the suction tube or pump shaft seal
