I think a lot of it was NO preventative maintenance had been done in a long time, and it sat in the woods for nearly a year after it was "tractor-jacked." Not sure what we loosened, tightened or removed that would have gotten air in the lines, but I am thinking changing out all the fluids had something to do with it.
That thing has two ATF reservoirs, a place for gear lube, and of course engine oil, The Fluid-Matic (I think that is the correct name) IS sort of an unusual tractor in that it is "sort of" an automatic.....hard to explain and I don't know enough to explain it anyway. LOL.
In your post you said "SOS tranny." Not sure I understand. Some kids got it started and I can only guess that they managed to snap the cable mishandling the gearbox / clutch. Makes me cringe just thinking about it.
