LOL, if I could afford a better one, it would come with a better seat. It obviously hasnt been barn kept. Alot of them around here just arent. So you are saying even though the hood says 3000, it might be a 2000?

read the trans code and find out... any decal can be stuck on... and the 2000 3 cyl and the 3000 are nearly identical machines.. etc. however.. if it has a diffy lock.. it's likely a 3000.. etc.. or at least the rear is anyway..

It sounds like a trans that is in need of some $eriou$ love.

You may be able to find a trans for $1000. Around here, that's a wet dream. But used part prices are all over the place. Lower is usually a longer wait.

If you are going to split the tractor, you will be smart to do the clutch etc while in there. You will spend a good long weekend if you are fairly slow, methodical and doing it yourself. Not super hard, but rusty bolts, striped threads, etc can drive ya nutz.

I'd figure that you wouldn't want to buy it for more than 1/3 the price of a runner. Probably in the 1000 to 1500 range would be my offer. Then again, missing out on a large project wouldn't break my heart either!

even when i pick up a tractor to restore.. i try to avoid the truly crippled ones... i passed on a neat pre 65 ford 2000 offset a while back.. pretty rare unit. but had serious troubles over every inch of the poor machine... wouldn't even be a good parter if you owned a good one just like it..
