in new zealand, i worked for a ford dealer, in the 70s, we sometimes rigged up a permanent bleed tube, to rear axle, with a small tap on pump,this helped, ford also sold a blending fluid,to be added to axle oil also,this looked like beer, best to fit a 3600 gear pump, all problems, solved then,piston pump a poor design,wont self bleed, gear pumps will, hope this may help,take care
