Ford 3000 hydraulic tap for log splitter

Hate to discourage anyone but there were not many people who ever raved about there being enough hydraulic power with that series or grouping of tractors. Most brought there tractor mounted units back in to be replaced with the gas engine units.

I think the best option would be to mount an independent hydraulic pump on the splitter and drive it with the PTO

pto pump willwork great.. need a valve and resevoir.. big $$

the pump on the engine of the 3000 will work.. but be slowish...

should have an asc valve .. that and a hose or two and you should be good to go..

or you could buy the 100$ PB plate and a valve for another hundred... won't gain you any flow over the asc valve.. though.. and ford gave you that free.. :)

Set it up like this and you only need to run the tractor at about 1500rpm and use ever little fuel.

No other closeups that you can see how it's under the legs and the pump. You can see the adjuster in that picture and thats about it. I can take some more if you tell me what part you want to see.

The picture appears to show about, a 1 to 6 ratio chain drive to the shaft of a high rpm hyd pump.

540 PTO rpm X a 1 : 6 ratio = 3240 rpm

Any idea of the pressure and GPM's?

The GPM's of the pump is variable based on the rpm of the tractor engine.

It's a 3.5 to 1 ratio and the psi is set at 2200. I forgot to look at the spes, on the pump. It has 1" in and out ports so you can just about guess. When working by myself I run at 1500rpm and if I fell good I'll go up to 2000rpm. If I have a helper I'll take her to 2200rpm. With engine wide open it's way to fast.

Never used my 9600 on a splitter. Use my 2810 and it works fine running at about 1,000 rpm. It's an old Central Tractor splitter. If the 2810 can split, so can a 3000. The 2810 has an after-market kit like this:

I never said it didn't run the wood splitter! I said it didn't run it so well, meaning it was slower than slow. But yes it did run the splitter, just not in a very effient mannor!
