is it a tubed tire?

if it is tubed.. weather checking won't matter much.. the tube holds the air, not the tire.

Great point...I imagine they are tubed but I'll take a closer look. I suppose I was thinking about the increased likelihood of a thorn puncture with badly cracked tires.

depends on plys and thorns. even a new tire will get poked by a big thorn.

you can partially help that with boots, etc.. but thorns are a bane to all front tires... new or old.

as long as the bead is good and sidewalls not split, you just keep patching tubes, and pulling thorns out and go.

rears are much thicker and more resistant to thorns.

Please see SawTooth's first response above...tire salesman explained it the same way so it appears I have a 15" rim after all.

I read his response and My response was my way of telling you it was 15 inch tire. I did learn a little bit in 12 years of work in tire shop
