Such a job may be beyond my capabilities, but your attack on this problem has been an excellent learning experience for ME!
My little 1920 has less than 1100 hours, and adds only 20 hours or less each year, so I can only hope I will never need to attempt removing the injector pump.
Your documentation is INCREDIBLE!
ALL TBN members should thank you.
Any one of us could need that information at any time!

Thanks. I'm just paying back all the threads that I got ideas from!!!!

Best I know, this tractor has close to 4000 hours on it. Pretty sure the pump hadn't been apart.

Thanks for your compliments. :)

Your 3910 has almost 4000 hours? Sure doesn't look it.

It's had a shoddy coat of paint shot on it with new decals. The fiberglass nose cone has been poorly repaired. Otherwise the sheet metal and fenders are straight. It spent it's life on a commercial sod farm. Pictures hide a lot. That's why I always say it's not a queen, just a princess. :)

New question related to this thread. I have a 3910 that ran fine last fall. I can’t get fuel to the injectors. I can get fuel to come forcefully out of the bleed screw on the pump. But even disconnecting the supply line at the injectors #1,2,or 3- no fuel, not even a spit. If the pump was bad, it wouldn’t push fuel out the bleed screw. Any suggestions?! Thanks in advance!

Check the linkage where the throttle hooks in, check the operating parts of the fuel shutoff linkage.

I recently had my CAV DPA injection pump rebuilt on my Perkins powered MF 231S. Different pump, somewhat different failure mode...mine was leaking fuel into the engine crankcase. Complete rebuild with calibration and testing on a flow bench was $900.00. I too experienced improved running and the leak is gone. Also, my fuel consumption has improved. Starting was not changed inasmuch as the Perkins starts with one revolution of the engine, cold or hot.

Recommendation; Inasmuch as our pumps are lubricated by the diesel fuel and our fuel is ULSD I use a bit of Diesel Kleen in my fuel to improve lubrication of pump and injectors. It also boosts Cetane rating and reduces potential for fuel system corrosion as well as reduced carbon buildup.

Nice work on your Ford.

I'm still working on my 3910. About all that's left is the sheet metal and the dreaded nose cone. I recently added dual filters with a sediment bowl and drain. Mine had a new(er) pump when I bought it. Along with a new starter, steering tower, PS pump and alternator. Every time I try to get back on it, something else needs my attention--Other tractors, lawnmowers or the driveway.
