the genny has a small blade field connection and a larger stud armature.
to motor test the genny, slip belt off and jumper bat hot to armature, and to field. gen should spin.
if it spins, it should charge ( rarely you can have a field fault and get a weak spin and no charge ).
to full field, hook belt back up, start machine and jumper bat hot to field. check armatue and bat hot for voltage. should both be right at same potential... ie.. with engine revved 13.8-14+ volts.
if armature is high and or jumpy.. but battery is a flat 12.6, then jumper bat hot to armature and field and recheck.
if voltage from bat hot to ground is 13.8+ then she should be charging... but looks like a wireing problem.. or the vreg has stuck open cutout contacts or open shunt coil.
