I bought a Ford 550 backhoe and I need some help on some particulars.

1976, 4000 series, LCG, Diesel, No PTO, 4/4 T-C Power Reversing.
1. What does the LCG mean and what is it's significance?
2. What is the 4/4 T-C Power Reversing tranny and what is its advantages and disadvantages?
3. I know the engine is a 3 cyl diesel, but what displacement?
Are there any known issues with these backhoes that I should be looking for?
I have the parts manuals and the repair manuals, but I'm need someone who actually knows these machines to shed some light on the pros and cons.
I'm a contractor that bought this to dig footers and scratch around my properties, so I figure this is big enough to do just about anything I would need. Any help is appreciated!
