Show us some pictures of the crank. Does it have bearing material stuck to it. Is the crank itself scored?

What are your intentions for this tractor? If your not going to work it hard then just take the crank out and get it polished, put new bearings in and that would be good enough. You can also get cranks ground down to a smaller size bearing and it would be just like new again provided you can get the bearings. It's time to get someone with experience to look things over and give you some good advice. The motor isn't ruined beyond repair. It might just cost more than it's worth to fix though.

i agree. all depedns on the condition of the crank as to whether it can be polished or needs a regrind. that and new bearings, and a double check on the oil pump, cam and valve train and it could be back up and running.

If only the bearings are trashed, they can be replaced. What would be bad is if the crankshaft journal surfaces are scored. In your second picture, is that the actual crankshaft journal, or is that the back side of the bearing? It looks like there's a little hole filled up with metal shavings, which would mean that's the bearing still in there. You need to see the actual crankshaft journal surfaces to determine what's next.

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT... ha ha SG. Yep he needs to pop that offa there and look at the crank journal. Looks like maybe the bearing might've spun.

Randhoff - you can make your photos smaller by opening them in your Paint program and selecting 'resize'. I use 25% but it depends on your camera resolution.

Its been raining every other day. I did not get this in the barn. the crank is not smooth it has ridges in it.
the NAPA manager gave me the number of a local tractor mechanic. He said to call him and he will come over and look it over. See if the crank can be turned . The holiday weekend every one took off except me. Being that the property needed to be mowed with brush hog. I turn my attention to my 3 cylinder 9n that has been sitting under a tarp for a year. I will crank down the resolution on the camera.

Yea I going to push this 800 into the barn. I don't see a quick fix. There been tractors popping up in the adds for sale . Like this one for $1000. I wish I had moved on that 871 with the bad SOS. It had a good engine and for $1500 it include a brush hog. The tractor had a hydraulic plow on the front. For $1500 it sat for 3 weeks. I saw in PA a Jubilee with another bad SOS in it. I thought they did not come out till like 59. I assume someone put it in that tractor. It was running with good rubber and pie weights. $500. It was gone when I called. A 640 with loader will not run for $900. it was gone. Yesterday another 600 bad clutch $800. If it had an 172 I would of called sooner. Then I thought of my brothers 620. But it was too late. My first piece of equipment I bought was a 9N. over 25years ago. I was dumb and the guy who owned was not very knowledgeable. It was running and when I warmed up the oil pressure went from 20 to little or nothing. He said that gauge can't be right. I agreed. I bought it. I used it to haul firewood and to run a brush hog to cut maybe 5 acres. After a few years I put a new oil gauge and line. That old gauge was correct. I had been using this for about 4 years. I took a compression test I think it was like 90,85,80,40. The back cylinder was dead and had been since I owned it. I used it for 25 years like that . Fired it up again last week. Those things are bullet proof. With just 3 cylinders it still has power. I have abused it when I stopped using it for firewood. It sat outside for over 2 years . When I decided to use it to brush hog I put a 6 volt bat in it. change the gas. I always turn off the gas and run it dry if it going to sit for the winter. It fired right off. The clutch was stuck I had to drive it down the road for about a mile before it broke free. I never put much into it. Just change the oil, 40 weight with thickener. filers and kept carbs clean. I figured an 800 with 172 running on all 4 cylinders would be great.

jubes were 53/54, but a jube engine is an early version of the 134 red tiger, and would bolt up to an sos. none of the rest of the jube stuff would bolt up.. so it was possibly an sos tractor with just the engine out of a jube.. etc..
