Didn't Dodge just sign an exclusive deal with Cummins until something like 2010? Of course that was probably only for the US market.

I saw that on the Cummins website. But, it did not go into any detail. I didn't know if Dodge signed only to recieve engines from Cummins or did they sign for Cummins only to supply Dodge?

It would make a great combination. I have driven F250('99) and F450('01) . Both are great trucks; the PS 7.3 was a pretty good engine.
I happen to like the Cummins in my Dodge a bit better. In stock form, they are pretty comparable, but I like the power curve to the Cummins.
It is interesting I have heard folks talk about putting Cummins in other trucks, but never a PS in another truck...
I personally would like to upgrade mine from the 5.9 Cummins to the 8.9L that is in the new Fire engines our distrct has been getting. I got to drive them a little before I stepped down as a volunteer. They were NICE!

About six years before I retired, I was assigned a new work truck, a Ford F800 with the 5.9 Cummins and automatic. It was the best engine of all the medium duties I drove over a 30 year period. My next new pickup has to be GM as we get the discount but I wish that 5.9 was available in a GM model.

That's not so unusual. Ford acquired Cummins a few years ago. They also acquired Jaguar and Volvo and a few others in their feeding frenzy. The Cummins 5.9 is a superior engine to the Powerstroke. (If not, then maybe someone can explain why International doesn't use the Powerstroke in their own medium duty chassis but uses their own in line 6. I'll just wait for the firestorm on that one).

I thought it was Cummins would only supply Dodge, but it would make sense that it would be a reciprocal agreement.

Thanks for the correction. I don't recall where I thought I read that Ford had purchased Cummins, however, my memory along with the rest of my body is failing faster that I thought.

That was a rumor that has been going around for a couple of years now. As much as Ford bought for a while, I would have believed it.
