Hi all.

Don't know if the hydraulic fluid has ever been changed. It must have at one point, but it hasn't been changed in at least a decade.

Trying to get the fill plug unscrewed and it's not happening. I used Kroil on it and it still won't budge.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for your time!

I would start with a block of wood and hammer. Try to catch the broken part on the right side of your picture low close to the threads. Hold the wood there then hit the end of the wood with a hammer. If that did not work I would move to an old socket extension and try to drive it out with that. If that did not do it I would go to a chisel and get a replacement cap. The chisel will cut it all to pieces.

Those are very brittle, and when you break them, not easy to locate. (so far, but haven't looked really close). I put an adjustable freeze plug in mine in order to keep water and dust out till I found one.

You may can put a radiator hose clamp around it real tight. Bump the knot where the screw is in the clamp. Since it is a little chewed around edge, clamp will hold. If you salvage it, get an aluminum or steel replacement made. Rubber freeze plug will work until you get the cap figured out. You may can find a bolt that will work, or make one work.

Thank you for all the replies! Just to be clear, I'm assuming the plug unscrews. I'm going to soak it with Kroil again today and give each of these a try.

After the plug is out, and fluids drained, filter replaced, all the hose lines need to be replaced. I was going to replace them with Napa Auto Parts custom hoses. Seems to be the place to go for tractor parts in Southwest Washington State.

Thanks again for your help and I'll give an update as soon as I get the plug out!

Yes it unscrews. So tap in the direction to unscrew it.

Uh oh... I believe this would've happened no matter what I would've done. Most of the cracking probably happened when I tried to loosen this a couple of years ago.

Next suggestions?

Time for the chisel. It was a crap shoot either way.
