You would be surprised how many people look at that GVWR and think that's the actual weight. My numbers are pretty close to being right, your empty weight on a stock trailer is still around 1500lbs and your GVWR is 3770 where I figured around 3400. Still not impressed, as I stated any 1/2 ton V8 truck will produce the same numbers. I would love to see some mpg numbers of these eco-boost trucks pulling a travel trailer with actual drag.

I love how you are right when you are WRONG! I am surprised as you that its that heavy but now that I go back and look I was wrong, plain and simple. There is no way its 1,500# empty. Probably closer to 2,800#.

According to your math he would have 2,000# or more of personal items in the camper.:confused2:

Just admit it, we BOTH under estimated the weight of it.

You are right, my wiener forks and styrofoam plates wouldn't add up those weights. I estimate approx. 200 lbs of gear at the most. This is the largest popup made and these fleetwoods have a steel tubular frame under them. My concern was the tires are overloaded from the factory.

I'd go Eco. In general I don't think its going to be a problem like some forums say, true they have reported problems but then again the Eco Boost has been out-selling the 5.0 hand over fist according to Ford.

The mileage is great, I already know a contractor with over 100,000 miles on his 2011 and he hasn't had a problem. The low end torque is really good too, strange on a turbo motor that isn't a diesel but its really there!

Wow, I would love to get 15 mpg towing anything with my 07 Dodge 1500 with the Hemi. My computer drops to the 12 to 14 mpg range towing. Real world just driving around mpg, checking at fill up is usually about 14 to 15 mpg. That's not using the 4x4 too....

Learn to drive lightly, your truck has the MDS which shuts off 4 cylinders while cruising, watch the MDS light and try to keep it on. Gearing is a major factor as well.

Made my return trip home last night. Got 14.6 mpg after my modifications. I added about 400 lbs of steel and pushed the trailer box back 6.5' making it probably catch more wind. Same roads and driving habits. Here is the finished steel work. Probably start a new tread soon with this project.

Nice work. I am curious though why you stuck with a single axle instead of tandem?

I am putting a 5200 lb axle under it. Three reasons, one being it will look better and more professional with the single wheel well. Second, I maneuver it by hand into a tight area of my barn and it pushes and turns easy. Third, one axle to maintain. Just finished sticking it in the barn and it still is easy to push. Here is a picture.

Good enough.
