Ford F250 Diesel Crewcab

FORD, it's the only way to go. My last 7.3 went 135,000 without ANY service issues. The truck itself is bullet proof. Interior on the 05' is BEST IN CLASS..... Very comfrotable and plush. I'm on a trip now in a friends Chevy and it's not any fun to ride in at all. Ford has way more power and programers available to step the power up 125 hp and 150fp of torgue. The 05' 6.0 Powerstroke is doing great and has little to no issues. Even the early 6.0's only had minor issues and they were fixed......

Go Ford and there will always be a GM in your rear view mirror.

Good Luck,

If you want a real truck you'll buy the Ford. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I too am a pretty good sized boy (6'5" & 320) and can't even get close to comfortable in a Dodge or Chevy. I'm not really sure why all the negative vibes are still out there about the 6.0, yes there were some early issues, and thanks to the internet and TDS I believe they were overly amplified. Yes, Ford had quite a few buy backs on the '03's, but look at the number of trucks that are out there.

I currently have two 6.0's, one in an '04 Excursion, 8800 pounds of road trip luxury and its averaging over 19 MPG at highway speeds; the other in an '05 F-350 SRW, Long bed 4X4 that is just one heck of a truck. These are my 14th and 15th personal Ford IH powered diesel vehicles, and they just keep getting better.

Don't think you can go wrong with the Ford, especially if you can get "A" plan price. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think you're right; you won't go wrong with a Ford. My last one, a gasser even('89 F250 4x4 xcab 351) was 225,000+ miles with only minor work when I sold it to get my Dodge. It's certianly worth looking at especially if you can get it on A or X plan(I got my Dodge partly for a similar deal).

To say it is "the real truck" is sure opinion though... Your decision to buy based on some personal preference and need certianly does not make it a "real truck" compared to the others any more than a Kubotas is a real tractor compared to a JD, or a JD compared to a New Holland.

You're right. That was a remark that I didn't intend to be taken seriously and I thought I'd put a smiley on it. It's there now.

Everyone needs to make the decision of what vehicle is best for them. Any of the full sized American trucks you buy today are going to give good service (just like any of the new tractors that are out there), you just need to do what's right for you. The Ford's are, and have been for about 35 years, right for me.

Sorry, no offense was intended.

I just got the new Dodge 2500, with the Cummins Turbo Diesel.
It has more power, and more torque, (610 foot pounds) but the most important thing is that this is far and away the quietest diesel I've ever heard.
AND it fits in my garage.
I paid about 32k fully loaded with custom leather, spray in bed liner, tint, etc.
I'm completely, 100% satisfied with it, and I'm averaging 21 mpg combined.

I'm at 2000 miles with my 05 SuperCab, 6.0 w/TorqShift. I spend a lot of time (when I'm not here) on the Ford Truck Enthusiast and The Diesel Stop websites.
Contrary to several stories I've read there, I've been very, very very happy with my new toy.

You Ford lovers can say what you want, but as a certified auto and diesel mechanic with 25 years experience, I'm not going to buy anything that needs the body pulled to perform engine repair. Especially as often as Ford trucks seem to need it. If it isn't the documented problems with the diesels it's the spark plugs blowing out of the gassers.

Anthony , Sounds like You got one SWEET deal on that CTD !
I drive a very early 03 psd. I've had one problem that was moderately serious but didn't leave me stranded at the road side . (bad FICM)
So I'm pretty much happy with my pickup .
Having said that ..... this weekend I was at the Dodge /jeep dealer buying the wife a new vehicle . Naturally I had to wander about the pickups . Being a long time Ford owner ,all I can say is the Dodges are Very nice . Good fit and finish, lots of nice features ,and like You said ....quiet . I managed to resist the urge to drive one ,at least for now . When it comes time to trade I'll definately give dodge serious consideration . John
