Ford F250 Diesel Crewcab

Mine is a P7100 pumped, 12 valve Cummins, with a manual transmission. I could get 500hp/1000ft-lbs + without going into the motor or pump internals, but why? Why burn more fuel than you need just to make smoke and burn tires? (no offense Dargo) Stock it has pulled everything I have ever hooked to it with ease. I don't need to drag with the $5000 stereo to feel good about myself any more. I did enough of that when I was a kid. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Besides, it leaves more money to spend on other things. (Kubota toys) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

AV8; Same with me as a kid. The older I get though, the more a kid I get. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif You know the old saying, The difference between a boy and a man is the size [cost], of the toy. Finally reached a point in life where I can pretty much do what I want. Man, it feels good getting older! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

One question not asked, have you looked at the F350? Is there a big enough difference to make the extra dollars worth spending for the 35xx vs 25xx series?

Bigger brakes, heavier frame, higher towing capacity, heavier axles, etc. More is more.

I love my F350 PSD Crewcab Dually!

Other than the emblems on the fender and the rear springs there is NO DIFFERENCE between a single rear wheel F350 and a F250. Same brakes, same frame, same axles, same powertrain.

An F250 can be thought of as a F350 with the lightest rear spring option. As a matter of fact, you can order a F350 with certain options and end up with a truck that is identical to an F250 down to the last nut and bolt, excluding the emblems. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The most important difference is what the legal capacity on the sticker says. Even though both trucks' hardware is the same, the F350 has a higher (by about 1400#) GVWR. This is one of those issues that is discussed "once in a while" on Ford Truck websites. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mine was already turned up when I got it. It has 116k on it now... since I didn't do the work or buy the stuff its hard telling exactly what was done. But this I know. It has a unknown 6 position chip, a turbo intercooler, a Tymar intake, and it appears that it has a completely redone 4" exhaust.

The engine is very clean. No signs of leaks anywhere. The dipstick and valves (looking through oil filler hole) is extrememly clean. Still shiny metal with nothing baked on. I have around 900 miles on it since I got it and it doesn't seem use any oil. I went through it front to back, every fluid this weekend, with Amsoil full synthetics.

The frame is in great shape.. all ball joints and steering on the front end is in good shape and tight.

Like I said. I may pull my tractor/camper/boat every other week for a short haul. May make a long haul with one of them for vacation once a year, other than that, this will be a daily driver. To work and then back home (20 minute drive one way). So with that in mind,
I REALLY hope to get 500k out of this thing or at least close.

***Edit: Oh.. I have the 5 speed manual. I hear those are bullet proof and have none of the problems associated with E40D automatics.

I love how on TDS they call them weird german handshaker trannies. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Yes the GCVW may be 1400# higher, but the weight of the crew cab and the "training wheels" is in excess of that, so the leagal towing capacity or payload is actually LESS. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yes, "legal" weight is important. I used to never see the DOT cops. Now, I've had the portable scale and giant cotton swab treatment twice! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Fortunately neither time had I been eating too much nor had I been drinking any red Kool Aid. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Some of you guys know what I'm talking about. I still get nervous about that big 'ole cotton swab!
