Thank to US manufacturers lobby. They didn't want system that would punish large vehicles (engines).

That strategy may win for them overall, but they are not getting my business now, but likely could if they brought me a small diesel.

I agree. I'd buy a small diesel in preference to any hybrid or electric. The new DI gas engines are quite an improvement but the diesels are still better for mpg.

What beating. IT is refuting every point the reactionaries throw at him.

What did President Bush do to cause the economic collapse? I remember him trying to stop it, and in 2002, I joined the bandwagon leaving CA because we all saw it coming.

Just curious.

Eddie

I was just pointing out that if you give credit or blame for something to one president and not the other then there is a serious flaw in you logic.

It takes years to obtain leases and develop production. Then to get it from crude to refined product on a scale that impacts the market is not quick.

There has been a lot of information out there about lag in production that was started under GWB showing up now and how Obama has done everything he can to falsely claim credit for it.

.

The oil market is so large that no matter where in the USA we open production we won't effect the market much ever. Where we can have an effect is in our trade deficit by selling our refined oil overseas which is what is happening today.

What happened under GWB was that the price of oil skyrocketed so drilling increased. Now we are awash in refined products and shipping those overseas. It's a world market.

Look two_bit, the information is not available on the internet unless it is purchase which I am not going to do. I have made several attempts to find it.

You introduced the report in to the discussion by publishing the headline claim that the break even point of a Volt is when a gallon of gas is $12.50.

All the forum wants to know is what criteria did the report use to come up with that number, for example, how many years is the cost of the car advertised, how many miles driven per year, per trip, miles driven on electric versus gas.

Because you published the headlines, it is safe to assume you have this data and looked it over before sharing it. I do not think you did, I think you stumbled on the report headline and recklessly posted it.

If you do have the data then please share it or tell us the truth. Responding to the fourm with insults is ridiculous when trying to cover your lack of due diligence.

I posted my statement that a report was released that shows gasoline would have to be $12.50 for the VOLT to be cost effective. I did not write the report.

The information is out there. If you can't get it, you can't get it. If you or IT do your own research and can debunk the $12.50 claim then I'd like to see it.

Otherwise IT can stomp his feet and demand all he wants to but I have no obligation to prove anything to him.

The leftwingers always try to make the debate about something else when the facts get in their way.

Bottom line is at $12.50 or even $10 it doesn't really matter. Here's what one guy as to say >>For these reasons and more, Bob Martin, a senior consultant to The CarLab, says the viability of electric cars remain largely a mirage: "It's been the Kool-Aid that the entire political system has been drinking for a decade. Electric cars are not ready for prime time. They're really interesting toys for very, very rich people."<<

Obama now wants to raise the subsidy from $7500 to $10,000 per Volt.

I agree with Bob Martin and have for a while, ever since this hybrid crap started. All of us (Detriot automotive engineers) never understood why the political speak went the way of hybrids when we suck at at energy storing technologies. We also need to reduce the costs significantly.

I do not want to debunk the report, I just want to know the criteria that was used to arrive at the $12.50.

You need to read the replies and respond to them instead of generating rhetoric to change the context in an attempt to steer the conversation.

I would like to see you stop with the insults and answer the questions posted, verbatim.

I've answered the question. It is what it is. The report was released that shows it would take gasoline to be at $12.50 per gallon for the VOLT to be cost effective.

If you want more then get on the Internet and get what you want.

I rejected your weak and ineffective theories regarding anything past tractors long ago. That's why almost all of my comments regarding your statements are brief and to the point. There is no use in waiting much time on you.
