The dipstick for the oil should be on the right hand side, directly below the white vented panel. Look towards the rear of the engine. There might be some hydraulic tubes very close to it. I have a 1320, but your tractor should be very similar. That's one nice feature of these tractors, you don't have to remove any panels to check the oil. Of course, you may need to squat down and reach around the loader frame to grab it, but it should be easily visible.

If the dipstick isn't there, you should see the tube stick out of the engine. If that's the case, get a new one immediately and get the oil changed pronto.

Well, I think I found the place where it should be. There is a blank covering the hole.

There is a picture of the blank below the injector. Am I correct in thinking that is where the dipstick is supposed to go?

Thanks,
Joe

Wow, it turns out I must be a noob - I had my wife go out and to take a picture after I looked at the exploded view on the new holland website and she found it right away. I didn't think it would have a hole for the dipstick through the sheet metal! I guess I didn't understand what you meant by under the white panel.

I ordered the owners manual today.

Well, got the oil changed. I am surprised at how much smoother the engine ran. The old oil was 4 years old according to the date written on the filter. That isn't the worst thing though as it was in storage for the last 4 years too. I used 5w40 synthetic oil and it started easier and ran much smoother. Changed the air filter too - next week I will change the rest of the fluids too.

The next thing I need help with is the glow plugs. When I turn the key back the light does not come on (it does when warm though). I don't think the glow plugs are getting any power - what tests should I do to troubleshoot this? The tractor does start now even when it is 20 degrees out, but it would be nice to not have to crank it as much.

Thanks,
Joe
