Ford Ranger is Officially Back

I had a Ranger with the 6 cyl, gas guzzler but I liked it to drive.
The automatic frt axles both gave up the ghost and that was costly.
I then discovered that the Ranger was actually a re badgered Mazda but the only problem was that nobody could cross reference any parts. Mazda parts were much more affordable than from Ford but the gamble was mine to take.

The current question is if the new Ranger is pure Ford or is it re badgered Mazda.

Since the new Ranger is based on the international Ford Ranger, I'm guessing it's basically a Ford (nothing is pure these days). If I recall, the Ford Courier was a Mazda, modified enough to accept the Ford engine in some versions. In the case of the Ranger, I think the Mazda was more of a rebadged Ford. If I recall correctly, the Mazda version of the Ranger was built in the US.

That's how I remember it too.

Just curious, where's this new 2019 Ford Ranger being built? I fully realize parts come from all over this rock but, where is the assembly plant?

The Ranger and Bronco will be built in MI.

I shouldn't be reading any of this as I'm trying to not buy a new vehicle for as long as possible. In 2004, I bought a 1 owner off-lease Ranger supercab XLT that had almost every option available, including the 4 liter engine, tow package and 4.11 axle ratio. I still drive that little truck and it has served me well. The only real mechanical repair was a front right bearing that went out at about 125,000 miles. (I now have a 192,xxx miles on the truck.) I had to replace the wheels about a year ago as the aluminum had corroded so badly that two wheels wouldn't hold air. I bought a set of black aftermarket 17 x 8.5 wheels and mounted some Michelin 265 x 17-65's on them. They look great and the ride really improved. Gas mileage went up to about 17 in above freezing weather. (That is the best I've ever gotten.) I finally replaced the original shocks (yes, I ran the original shocks for 15 years) with some Bilsteins. I should have done that years ago. It has never ridden so well. (Just a note on the Bilsteins, great shocks but they have a serious design flaw or an undisclosed installation secret. There is no lock nut on the fronts so trying to tighten the top nut down resulted in the shaft just spinning. We had to really work and get a little creative to get those top nuts torqued.) It is no speed demon, but it can pull way more weight than I can see putting on my little trailer, even with the bed loaded up. And it definitely off-road capable, maybe not the crazy, blast over sand dunes fast enough to get air, capable, but I've never been stuck in either mud, snow or ice. It is no modern vehicle but it is a nice little truck and I would like to get 300,000 miles on it. At the last oil change I sent a sample to Blackstone Labs and they reported the oil looked good with no appreciable metal in it. Don't know if it will make 300,000 but so far so good. But I've had it so long, I've started just looking at F-150's. They sure are a lot nicer than my old Ranger but I've been able to resist so far. Now if the new Ranger is well done, I may have a harder time resisting that and if they make a baby Raptor with some serious chops, well, my bank account may take a serious hit. Then again, maybe I will stay strong and resist and just keep maintaining what I've got.

The Mazda was built in New Jersey along with some of the Ranger production. After the Mazda ceased production, all Ranger production was consolidated to Minnesota.
