Ford says YES to CNG F-150!

I looked at a used f450 02 I think I was a crew cab xlt 4x4 and it had cng and unleaded with a v10.
Looking back I should have bought it. I still see it getting used daily by a local landscape company. And all there trucks are v10 cng

A buddy of mine picked up a used F150, around that model year, or just a bit newer. Factory CNG/Unleaded, was a British Columbia Highways truck. Loves it. Power is down slightly on CNG, but driveability is still fine.

Given BC's lunatic gasoline taxes, it is his favourite work vehicle to use around Greater Vancouver. They haven't built any roads there in about 50 years, so paying for gasoline in a work truck that spends most of it's life stuck in traffic was killing him.

I like CNG as a fuel, but until the infrastructure matures, I would want a dual fuel platform for personal use.

Lots of propane powered trucks in BC, guy I went to school with had a nice late 60's chev from BC, built for propane only. Very high compression engine, maybe 14 to 1 if I recall. Once in a while would need to heat one of his propane tanks in -30 C weather if it had been parked too long or it wouldn't have enough propane vapour to start.

Knew it was around -40 , but looked it up...... -42 deg. C is the boiling point of propane. I remember some of our old/cold winters..... tough to get a propane truck started !

Bigger tank (area) helps, aside from not running out, this is one reason for a furnace propane tank to be large, and for dual tanks on RVs.

I'd like to drive one of the new Roush Ford propane trucks. Not surprisingly, the performance is supposed to be good (not 1/4 mile good, but you know what I mean.....).

My first car, a Volvo 440 1.7 on liquid propane gas, started on petrol, then switched onto LPG as soon as there was enough exhaust heat to keep the LPG injector from freezing.

The trick with a compressed gas expanding, taking up heat from the environment (intake air) is a nice feat in high performance cars, saves you an intercooler.

That is cool ! (Pun intended ;) )
