Hi guys,I am in the process of restoring a ford 555 4x4 backhoe machine(1984.)can here anyone here send me a pic of the throttle linkage down on the gearbox,under the fuel tank.I have afew bits missing I think and need to see what it looks like when its together.The manual I have has a very poor black n white photo but I cant make anything out from it.From what i can see its has the foot throttle connecting somehow to a plate that is connected via a rod to the hand throttle lever?

Have your model and associated numbers. They are only about 100 miles from me but they ship UPS all over the country. I drove up the first time just to check them out and they passed in flying colors. My son was playing with a flying toy of my daugher's and landed on the awning across the front and two employees took a pallet and a forklift and retreived it for her. She was happy too.

Sorry I thought you were looking for missing parts for your back hoe. Get you a factory manual off of Ebay with good pictures if you can fine one. I found CD manuals can be more clear and you can zoom them.
Yes,I got a manual ,its a usa printed book,and its around 2 inches thick,but the one photo i need to see clearly is just too dark and small lol,need a good clear colour pic of it just so I have an idea what ,if any parts are missing,I removed the engine and stripped it down a year ago,so its just being put back together now after its rebuild,unfortunatley,I never saw the machine working and cant be sure if the foot/hand throttle were working as they should.

I have a 555C 4wd of about the same vintage.

Go find Nashville tractor's website (google is your freind) and their parts department and then they have the link there as well or Messicks does as well (I imagine that any NH dealer has it available)

Go here, I use them all the time for my 655:thumbsup:
Enter "Construction" portion and enter your model 555 and you should be able to see how everything attach's.

I know you said it in the first post, but without some fairly serious deconstruction I don't see how to get in there for a picture.
The gas pedal goes into the firewall and enters the land of away.

no luck as yet,tried these two sites,but nothing,and to add more confusion,it seems the U.S spec 555's have quite afew diferences,some U.S models dont even hav a cab,only a roll cage.
Anyway,I have found that there is deffinatley a part of the hand lever linkage missing,the linkage comes through the firewall from the dashboard,down (behind the fuel tank) to the linkage that pivots on the gearbox,here the hand linkage rod connects to a ball socket,and from the other end,via another ball socket and rod to the fuel pump.part of this linkage is missing on mine as theres only one ball socket,possibly this is that part that links up the foot throttle(gas pedal) also.This was never connected as far as i can remember when i got the 555,so I have no idea what the part looks like.If i can get it hooked up with fabricating my own brackets and have it working on the hand throttle for now ,ill be happy.

The dropdown lets you select which 555 you have and if you think its about and 84 then it should be a 555a.

No problem, it's amazing how a "Mystery Part" can hang around for a long time until one day "So thats what thats for"
My dozer came with a box of them as well and until I got the service manual they were a mystery to me as well.
Good luck with your 555.
I know my 655 has been one of the best pieces of equipment I have ever owned even after I dumped it into my pond.
Just keep the front hydraulic pump ujoints well lubed.
