fordson major identification

Hello, I have recently bought a major to restore as a wee project, I was told that it is a power major but after stripping it I started noticing slight differences such as the front axle pin, instead of it being the narrow pin it was the later style large pin with a grease nipple. Also the rear wings are the later style almost flat along the bottom as apposed to the earlier ones that have the curve with a leg coming down on them? Can anyone give me any tips on how to identify my tractor? Thanks ian

Look up the serial number. It should be stamped in the engine block on the right hand side, if I remember right. Match that number with the Fordson listings on tractordata.com. This will give you the model and year.
