Bird: At 5:20PM We have 3 inches of the white stuff just north of Greenville, Tx and still coming down. I am not ready for this kind of weather. It got down to 20 degrees last night and is 24 now. The stock tanks are frozen and I have been out breaking Ice so the cows can get a drink. The Chickens, ducks, geese and other birds are having it tough also. The other farm animals seem to like it, but they seem to be tougher than this ole man. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I wonder if the TC35D will start. It has the same diesel in it that was put in during the fall. I dont think it has any cold weather additives./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Chuck, I've been watching that radar all day and we're right on the south edge of the precipitation. It only snowed just a few minutes, then a couple of times we've had a pretty good shower of sleet for a few minutes, but hardly enough to count. Weather forecast was for a high of 41; it started at 28, got to 30 then went back down. I can sympathize with the ice breaking for the critters to drink. I used to have to do that when I was a kid, then we had a couple of winters where we are now that were cold enough I had to go out and get 15 rabbit watering bottles in the mornings and bring them inside to thaw them. But for now, we have no critters to worry about except the dog, and he stays in the house./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif And it's down to 24-25 degrees here now.

Of course, we've decided it's a pretty good New Year's Eve this year anyway. This is also my wife's birthday, and this time last year, she and the dog were home alone and I was in the hospital. So I guess things are looking up this year./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I guess the hospital felt sorry for the patients and wanted to give them some kind of treat for New Year's Eve, so the dinner tray that night included a plastic long stemmed champagne glass and a bottle of Perrier water. I'd never tasted it before, so I drank it, and I still can't understand why anyone would actually pay money for that stuff./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

We have had a high of 43 today with mist and drizzle most of the day. Nothing frozen yet. 3 inches of Snow only 320 miles away?/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif This could get serious. We might get an inch down here, which would paralize the city of San Antonio, and set an all time high number of accidents in a 24 hr. period./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird: I know your wife is happy that you are home with her this year and I know you are happy to be home also. I spent my time in those plcaces with a couple of Heart Attacks and just laying around is no fun, much less being sick./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

ErnieB: I was in San Antonio when the Ice Storm hit there earlier this month/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif. It was pretty nasty with all the accidents up and down 410 and 281/w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif. Stayed several weeks at the Embassy Suites near the Airport. I will be coming back next week and probably for a few weeks to come. I am consulting (supplier management)for my old company at some of their suppliers in San Antonio and come back home on the weekends./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well, I survived the snow storm. In fact, it didn't even snow here, what a big relief. I'm happy to see that you and Bird noticed my subtle humor over the situation, usually I just get stares from people thinking I'm a dumb@$#.

It has been cold here though, at least for South Alabama. low's in the 20's, highs around 40. I love busting knuckles while working on the tractor in 30 degree weather.

I don't know about you, Boots, but I'm not only getting tired of this weather; I'm getting disgusted with our weathermen. Our "normal" temperature this time of year is for a low of 33 to a high of 54, and every day for 4 days now, the weathermen have been saying warmer weather is "just around the corner; starting tomorrow." I guess tomorrow ain't got here because my thermometer hasn't been above 31 since Saturday (when the forecast was for a high in the 50s and it got to 41). It was 19 this morning and the forecast is for colder tonight than last night, then warm up "tomorrow."/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Chuck, If you were in SA this morning then you arrived just in time for the freezing rain. Not too many accidents, from what I heard. I went up I35 to New Braunfels this morning, a little ice on the bridges, but no accidents.

Didn't get to come to S/A until Wednesday afternoon, visited some suppliers Wednesday, Thursday and Friday near the Airport. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Left out late Friday Afternoon and drove up 281 thru the hill country and over to Georgetown on the way back home. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif That sure is a Beautiful view and drive. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Little over 1/4" if ice on everything over here and the limbs they are a snapping, /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif and I hope its not near as bad like the great ice storm couple years ago. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
