Forgetting to lift 3PH

   / Forgetting to lift 3PH #21
To avoid damage to my shop, I've laid down osb board where I drop the FEL and under the skids of the bush hog.
If I forget to raise, I usually know it before I'm off the board and on cement, hopefully /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I haven't done that, but has anybody tried to move the tractor with the stabilizers down after using the Back Hoe?

I have tried this a time or two-found out it don't work too well.
Anyone else tried to pull that?

Kubota has sort of solved this problem.

The 3ph on my B7510HST has the annoying habit of leaking down completely overnight (I normally carry the box blade on the hitch as ballast). This "feature" has been discussed many times in these forums and Kubota knows about it, but so far I haven't heard of any fix coming from Big Orange.

So now I automatically push the 3ph lever to full up after starting the engine. It's part of my startup routine.

Thanks a lot, Kubota.

Flusher , Why would you want to leave the 3ph up overnight ? especially with something as heavy as a Box blade ?
It seems like a careless practice at best . But, then that's just my opinion . John

I agree with John, no need to keep unnecessary pressure on the hydraulics. It's really simple to lower the load, shut off the tractor, then return the 3 point lift lever to the full up position. No way to forget to raise the 3 point the next time that you fire up the tractor, problem solved...

I don't want ANYTHING to happen without my direct input when dealing with equipment. Definately no 3-point hitch moving upon starting the tractor. It's not that difficuklt to start, then raise the lift. I can't bring myself to believe it's harmfull to the tractor in any way, but from a saftey standpoint, I'd rather wait until I move the lift control lever to see the 3-point hitch start in motion.

And talk about an accident waiting to happen! I can't imagine going off and leaving a 3-point implement in the raised position.

Why take chances? Saftey is not the lotto.

I agree, cannot see the reason to leave the hitch up. It can cause more static wear on the seals and valves, as well as being a possible danger. If its down, I guess you could forget it and drag it a bit. Wont take long, you'll remember it quickly. Eventually, you'll remember it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My Kubota B6200 parts manual shows a length of chain attached to the left 3pt arm. There is a fixture above the pto shaft that would hold this chain at any link you desire, The owners manual does not discuss this feature, but the only use I can figure out would be to hold the 3pt hitch suspended safely when tractor is not running. This tractor will drop its hitch when not running, as others have mentioned. Perhaps those with droopy 3pts wishing to keep their hitches up could try this arrangement. I am going to try this after reading this thread.

what about safety? You leave the 3ph up with a box blade on, someone comes in, possibly a young person who doesn't understand tractors, touches the lever and the box blade falls down onto their feet!! ( This is assuming you have kids of course!) I was always taught to lower the implement on the deck, stops accidents and stops strain on the hydraulic seals. Just my 2 pennyworth anyway

The chain setup would be a natural for any rear counterweight you use for loader work. I don't like the idea of 500-900 lbs of weight on the 3 point and asking the pump to maintain height.
