Kubota BX 24
I have a Kubota BX24 and am considering purchasing after-market forklift attachments (with chains?) that go directly onto my loader bucket....I can imagine many uses for this, and it seems like it would be pretty quick to throw them on to handle stumps, move wood, or throw on a pallet to move junk, etc. There are several online.....anyone have any experience with these type of forks, and any advice on style, brand, etc??

Thanks!

I have a set I bought on eBay. There are a couple frequent sellers. I did not buy the ratcheting load binders with them as Harbor Freight had them on sale for less.

They have come in handy. I use them mostly to move a pallet that I set my PHD on. They really show the limit of your loader though. I was unsuccessful trying to unload a pallet of plastic stall flooring (not mats - a honeycomb structure) The pallet was not real heavy but my LA402 only lifts 800 lbs at the pin; even less out at the forks.

They were handy moving fence panels for our round pen.
I have also used one fork to carry rolls of flex-fence.

That was one thing that I was curious about....I have a BX 24 and the bucket lifts 550 or so....what that translates to out on the forks I don't know....suspect I wouldn't have huge capacity but beats lugging by hand and might help balance a load such as stumpage, etc. are you happy with the quality of your forks and how do they attach?
Thanks

One option that I think would be pretty handy are the "trash forks" that Sundown, and others offer. They are shorter than regullar pallet forks, and there are more tines. While they wouldn't work with pallets very well ( don't think you will do much heavy pallet lifting anyway) they really look handy for brush, sections of log, rocks, or anything longer than the bucket. They also wouldn't twist sideways since they pretty much fill the bucket. I think the lighter ones would work well with a BX.

I bought a set off ebay a while back also. I've been pretty happy with them so far. The quality is good for the price I paid. (~$120 shipped I think) They go on pretty easy with load binders I bought from Harbor Freight as well. I have not used them as much as I thought I would... or at least yet. I bought them to help move brush and trees to the burn pile. I pictured myself taking out a bunch of brush and small trees with the front end loader and chain saw, then strapping on the forks and moving the whole pile in one or two trips. I find myself taking out a couple of trees and some brush and just tossing them onto the bucket and then coming back to the area I'm working in and doing it again. So, it all depends on how you plan on working with them I guess. I'm going to really try to get more use out of them this summer.
