I have 2 trailer loads of concrete blocks to unload tomorrow. These are the big 2'x2'x6' "keyed" retaining wall blocks and there's 26 per load.
The last time I did this we just used a chain with the forks squeezed together, it was a little funky. It's built (as usual) out of what I had on hand.

72000 pounds of concrete

There's 20 to a load not 26, but a pretty good deal at $1240 delivered. I'm using them for a foundation of sorts for a 40x37 building for my bandmill.

My new "hook" worked well and I was able to grab the center hooks on the blocks from the SS seat alone, that was my objective and it's earned a painting. 👍

A little follow up.

It's a cheap DIY foundation (of sorts). The blocks sit on a foot of crushed stone, then I'll pour a level cap on the blocks and dip in the brackets for the posts.

The start of the forms.

On your brackets - don't you need a hook on the end of them? Here, for our steel posts, we use "weld plates" which are 1/2" steel plates with J bolts welded onto the bottom of them.

On your form work - how are you going to keep the bottom from getting pushed out from the weight of the concrete? It looks like you are using 1x12 for form boards, those are not very stiff and will need lots of bracing to keep from having an undulating wave.

The 2x's on the top of the forms will keep the top from pushing out, but also prevent you from troweling the concrete under them. We usually have stakes on both sides and tie them together above the forms.

It's all just free floating right now, when I get them all built I'll string line and square them up. Then I'll brace and secure them. I'll have the opportunity to drill into the block and pin it with rebar to keep the bottom in place. Then there's also just backfilling the outside of the forms with dirt. In the end both inside and out will be up 6" for the finished grade. 👍
