Anybody here from the Anchorage area?
If so, wishing you well from green NY State.

I see news reports of weeks of heavy snow causing
all sorts of problems with collapse/travel/cleanup.

Not that anybody wishes that type of snow on anyone,
but it's amazing how this winter has been for most of
the lower 48. Winter businesses around here are
starving, ski areas, plow guys and snowmobile revenue
is all but nonexistent.

National news reported Cordova, with no highway structure, airport closed and the bay frozen, an ice breaker was attempting to make way for an oil tanker to reach its destination with heating oil. Without oil those folks are in a world of hurt. I wish them the best of luck, if that's possible.

I'm glad I was there in the month of July and not December of this year.

Now that's a large amount of snow over a period of several weeks. Although the residents are probably use to winter conditions, those conditions will surely put a strain on available resources.

I live about 50 miles from Anchorage. Cordova is about dug out now. Nome got their fuel via tanker. It's about -25 here not and about -60 up on the north slope where the majority of the oil comes from.

Looks like it will be the coldest January on record if things don't change. Still alot of snow on the ground throughout most the state. Lets just say were on the lookout for warmer weather in a few weeks.

Im in Palmer and we are supposed to get another foot+ of snow here today. Crazy this year. My cabin is 1 mile from KENNY CREEK lodge-do a google search or facebook search for it, and we have 6' of compressed snow on the ground. Well over 10' has fallen up there this year. And 3 more months left to go.

Yea. It's coming down pretty good. We have gotten over a foot this afternoon so far and more to come. We have about 5

Our cows have a furrough from the barn to the round bale feeder and that's about it. I plowed a "road" around the pasture for them but it just keeps filling up with drifts.

Water's gana be high this spring for sure.
