Dverbarg,
Know Problem to drive. Do what I do when I have a flat on the front.
1. Raise the front up with the loader.
2. Push down on the right side wheel and tire. The one that is still intact.
3. When the axle is pivoted, put a short piece of 2”x4” between the axle and the axle stop.
4. Now, let it down to the ground and drive away.

Jerry,

Thanks for the idea. I'll have to give it a try tonight.

Based on the most recent conversation with the dealer I may try to trailer the unit to them. Once they realized that I am an hour from them they want to charge a pickup fee of $304. They would be willing to lower it if I can wait for their driver to be in my area but have not plans to be out my way. For $304 I think I can try to trailer the unit and take it to them.

Dave,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hate to hear that, even more so since I have the identical tractor /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif.

Hope the dealer can get it fixed quickly and this was just a fluke.

Maybe adding the remotes to the "to do" list at your helpful dealer will change their plan to bump a spot open. For them to just change the axle should be a quick job, providing they have the part.

Remember my post, kidding you about breaking your tractor? Gosh! I feel bad about that now!/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif How ironic!

Hope your dealer gets you going soon.

Dave:

This appears to be a factory defect. As you already mentioned your still under warranty. Travel expense shouldn't be an issue. If it is to that dealer just tell them to backcharge New Holland for that expense. At the same time find out if they can supply a loaner tractor till yours is done. They seem to have an issue with time is money. You might explain to them that you both have the same priorities here. If they still have an attitude, try having New Holland customer services give them a call. Its all cheaper than litigation.

This dealer apparently is primarily a construction equipment dealer. Accustomed to working with the commercial trade where they don't bat an eye at a $300 pickup/delivery charge.

Like your idea of contacting NH customer services and seeing if they can put some incentive in place for the dealer to do the pickup and delivery at no charge to me.

Last night tried the idea of placing a 2x4 between the axle and axle stop. Its rather difficult to do on the Boomers, at least the supersteer models. May have to just pick the front end up with the bucket (after removing the toothbar) and drag the front end around. Might also use Hazmat's idea of using a furniture dolly when I get to a smooth enough area (the trailer). This of course assumes that NH won't pickup the tab for transportation. Still hopeful that it can be arranged today or tomorrow.

The forever optimist (when it comes to my tractor)

New Holland does not pay for transportation under warranty you can not back charge it to them. The dealers or I should say the good dealers usually eat the transportation cost when there is a warranty issue. So you all should remember that when you are trying to squeeze the last dollar out of a deal.
