Chris, I, too, wonder what the real story is. I just received that same picture via e-mail today (been forwarded a few times) with the following text below it:
<font color=blue>"We sure know how to grow them in TEXAS!
Anyone who goes to the Brazos Bend State Park, might want to reconsider this location. This gator was caught a few weeks ago at Kitty Hollow Park in Missouri City, Texas on Highway 6. A construction worker found it laying in one of these concrete pipes. The animal control officers said it weighed just under 2100 pounds and was 18 1/2 feet long. I say again, this was Texas, not the Florida Everglades? (To think kids play at the park just a few yards away!!)"</font color=blue>
Missouri City is about S.H. 6 and U.S. 59 just west of Houston, but as to whether the story is true . . ., your guess is as good as mine.
